One thing that jarred with me this morning was the news on the Today programme reporting Bernie Ecclestone's removal as CEO referring to Chase Carey as a "friend and adviser to Rupert Murdoch".

I don't think this is necessarily a case of bias, but wasn't sure which forum to post it....
Anyway, surely people have better things to do than talk politics with strangers, particularly on a plane:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and_audio/headline...
Love the claps and cheers from the other passengers as she's escorted off the plane.
I'm astonished that anyone thinks going off on one in public is OK. Gobby cow.

The sort of gobbiness that gets into bad situations, frankly, when they meet the right psycho...
Seems like much ado-about-nothing!? She didn't even raise her voice or get violent, only tepidly passionate -if that. The video ends before she is removed from the flight & by then it looks like she is going to stay. Is this honestly what people get all excited about these days!?!?

grr, got my ear phones out for nothing grumpy

They keep saying the pound has plunged as a result of the ruling - now using the more moderate 'dipped', but it has changed about the same as it does any ordinary day, down 1/2% so what, went up 3% after May's Brexit speech!

Down 0.14% against the USD, down 0.06% against the EUR.

Not even "dipped" really!

What’s more. If you put your pointer over the headline, it turns Turquoise and becomes underlined. The feinds.

It's a worry. His local supermarket must have run out of Bacofoil.

How many times is Chris Evans going to be critical of Trump today?
I have already complained about it once but was told I was wrong.

Sorry Beeb, I'm out...

BBC agenda, it is infected with these people who think THEIR political position is correct and they must constantly tell us so....

Evans speaking is akin to a vomiting dog.

More content from the dog mind.

I think Paxman may have invented the genre of aggressive 'interviewing' some years ago....
I think Paxo has the more recent reputation, but Robin Day was ruffling feathers before him - google his interview with Sir John Knott (Sec of Defence) for the flounce on live TV.

The media has grown to match the size of government - one feeds off the other. It's a strange symbiotic relationship requiring frequent cannabalism, live sacrifice, the trashing of reputations (dead or alive) and sometimes even profanity. And that's just Springwatch.

Perhaps if we could trim government back to a manageable size we'd be able to get by without 24/7 political opinionated news coverage too? More room for celeb stories!

Well I've been listening to different stations recently (as it's so easy with an Echo Dot) but found myself back on the 5 Live Nicky Campbell show for a day or 2.

Having been away what really stands out is how every subject is so "right on": women's pay inequality, gays in football, threatened women MPs, Brexit doom and gloom etc. Then the sports report has the results of the women's football and the disabled something or other (target audience < 0). You just don't get that so incessantly on the other stations.

However had to laugh this morning as on the Trump section they had 3 pro-Trump callers in a row saying what a great job he's doing, wishing we had someone to JFDI over here(as opposed to May's protracted talking shop). The 3rd caller actually expressed his amazement that he'd been allowed on and told Campbell what he thought of the BBC's normal approach. Cue defensive "we're impartial" defense and normal service resumed with next callers.

Make of that what you will.

I tried watching the news on BBC 1 recently, followed directly by ITV News. It was as though they were broadcasting from different universes..... ITV weather is way better than BBC. I'm guessing its down to the presenters, particularly Lucy getmecoat

You don't have to watch/ read it, there are far better sources for people more right wing who want their world view confirming, such as FoxNews or Breibart in the US and similar in Europe.

That's the great thing about the digital age.

However, all these 178 pages just seem to be you lot whinging about something you don't like and are not prepared to do something about it, ie read/watch other news sources. You really do sound like my Daily Mail reading mum. Moan moan moan.

Are you aware that he has cancer?

He is doing a remarkable series of very candid interviews on R4 every Monday at 5:40.

They are excellent and brave interviews and compelling radio but have nothing to do with whether he gets BBC bias or not.

You can have cancer and be a or an angel. It doesn't discriminate unfortunately.

I've said this before but often missed - for me, I mainly listen to R4. It used to air some truly excellent comedy, varied & proper funny. Now, they trot out the same little group of "comedians" on the same tired platform & it's mostly a soapbox for their political gripes. It was funny for a while at first, but now it's just boring.

There is a bias at the BBC, but it was mostly quite subtle. Since the Brexit vote & now Trump, it's like they're not even trying.

Fine. But I remember when it was a lot less biased & it made for more pleasurable listening.

That said, R4 is still the jewel in the crown of BBC excellence & on balance, the BBC still has the edge over the competition. Outside of R4, I think that standards continue to diminish.
