Other than the fact the Argentine wotsit is worthless it's not a bad plan; cookie cutter power station which the russians retain ownership of and charge the Argies by the kWh. If an agreement is made they'll get it built faster than we can get an agreement on pricing for Hinkley.

Aye but what else is in the small print. Bit of advice or more on all things military? Not forgetting there is a load of stuff down there that if extracted can lessen his hold on us. If this stuff under the Falklands pans out of course.

Possibly, but the Argies don't export much that Russia needs apart from maybe beef and grain, it would have to be a pretty favourable deal to give the Argie military a make over as nearly all their gear is western and old, so there would be little compatability. Short of war being declared the Falklands basin will be tapped and producing within 2 years and there's not much Vlad can do about it even if he did negotiate a deal involving use of an Argentine port as a southern base.

Much as I dislike CK I dislike this hedge fund more.
All they've done is ask for what they are owed. This hardly makes them the bad guys.
Somebody needs to hold Argentina's feet up to the fire. They keep pulling this same stunt; borrowing money from others, running up unplayable debts, defaulting, having a good chuckle. Rinse and repeat. They need to be brought to book and I for one hope the hedge funds and the US Courts flay them alive.

Argentina's credit rating is the lowest in the world on the Fitch ratings, second lowest on Standard & Poors and just kept off the bottom by a handful of other basket cases on the Moodys listing.

Loaning them money is like giving £100 to a stranger off the street to send to a friend's daughter for an emergency ear operation and then seeing him walking down the street half an hour later pissed out of his head.

Anyone remember the Mitchell & Webb sketch, when they are WW2 German soldiers who suddenly realize that they are 'the bad guys' ?

Is CK going to wake up one day, think ...... 'oh my lord, I'm on Putins side.... we're the bad guys'

Well what remained of that Argentinian feel good factor just got shattered.

Hopefully they march on parliament.

Slightly tricky timing, but I'd recommend the Islanders celebrate "German Week" starting on Monday.

"Herzlich Willkommen auf den Falkland-Inseln", copious consumption of smoked pork products, German Beer, wearing of Lederhosen - as soon as they can be flown in - umlout annotation on street signs, and generally as much YouTube Bennies-Go-German action as they can upload in a week.

Dilma Rousseff looked absolutely stoney faced at the German win, no doubt she'll have to be baggy-face's shoulder to cry on, bet she's looking forward to that. HA!

yes

If you squint, Deutschland looks similar to Falklands, seeing this on the opposition jersey made her players feel saddened......or something hehe
