I'm currently in Argentina. Fantastic country.

I'm hoping that it's coincidental with the recent change of Goverment and removal of currency controls, however all of my cards have failed to work in all cashpoints here, in a largely cash society that's a big hurdle, only averted by a Western Union type transfer I've just had to do.

HSBC by any chance? I think I read they'd been having some issues in the last day or so.

No, oddly it sounds like the HSBC at the airport is one which DOES still work.

It seems like the two main networks (Banelco and Link) have simply stopped working for foreign cards... Hopefully this will change as its a little inconvenient to say the least!

Run this by us again? I assume there's a reason for this apparent inconsistency?

The British settlement was established at Port Egmont on Saunders Island, off West Falkland. Around the same time, the French/Spanish had a settlement at Port Louis on East Falkland (just around the coast from the modern day Stanley).

To save ferrying their aircraft over they could simply display the Pucaras that are already in the UK.

Well they'll easily be able to squeeze them in, in between the gents toilet and the air conditioning units, they'll only need a small marquee.

It's an excellent plan.

The shiny new( well newish) SU-24s turn up at Fairford - and are promptly wheel clamped and not allowed to leave until the Kirchner pays the next HP payment - just like the ARA Libertad 4 years ago.

Its a common courtesy to invite potential belligerents to air shows and fleet reviews, idea being as a firm handshake is far cheaper than rebuilding after a punch on the nose.

Not to do with the new government. It was like that before when I was there in November. It's not just British people either, but a lot of foreign cards. Was very sketchy down in some of the more remote parts of Patagonia for a bit! They're also very random - some work one day and not the next day. Also you'll probably have discovered the credit limit of 1000 or 1500 pesos a day which makes it even worse!

Possibly a deal similar to what Thatcher wanted pre-the war.

If this will appeal to any Labour voters, it'll be to the ivory tower/trendy liberal/metropolitan elite type.
If this will anger any Labour voters, it'll be the old fashioned (ex) working class who are socially conservative and patriotic.

I look forward to the continued decline of Labour in the north.

I have no idea what he's meaning with this... it's saying absolutely nothing and just seems pointless. He's speaking about a war over 30 years ago, and saying it was pointless? Surely it's pointless to bring up something from so long ago?
