I now realise how wrong I've been all this time & will switch my support to the Argentinean cause.

Why did nobody display this banner sooner?

I visited the Argentine Embassy during Open London last year and as you enter there is a large map of the Falkland Islands marked Malvinas. It certainly convinced me that we should sell out the Falklanders to the Argentinian Banana Republic and the "Clown Queen" in BA.

FIFA are apparently investigating it.

Surely they just have to look at the photo to see they're guilty of making a political statement. Punishment will be to play all their international games in Qatar, during the Summer.

That made me chuckle

Gottcha

Was it steaming towards or away from the Argie penalty box at the time though? Torpedo of God....

The flag is the only thing they can raise. Their armed forces are bled dry by the poor politicians so they have about 4 guns and 12 rounds to shoot.

Even their vice president is up on fraud charges at the moment.

And they wonder why the people on the Falklands don't want to be a colony of Spain. Sorry. Argemtina. Spanish speaking Argentines are not colonial let us not forget.

Step Ladder won't let FIFA punish anyone for a bit of Brit bashing especially as Greg Dyke has recently stated that he shouldn't stand for re-election.

I can see her point of view, these funds purchased Argentine debt after the default for peanuts, now they want top dollar for it, more than other bond holders have accepted.

The Falkland Islanders could buy Argentina with their soon to be enormous amounts of oil money. They could rename it West Falkland or Little Britain then the Islands will at last be part of the mainland, only on our terms. smile

Actually no, who wants Argentina.

Argentina borrowed money. The creditor sold the debt on, the new creditor wants payment of what's owed, regardless of other creditors settling for less.

Kirchner's squealing because the US courts have ruled she must pay what she owes. Tough titty.

Yes. I know. No need to point out the obvious.

Much as I dislike CK I dislike this hedge fund more.

All they've done is ask for what they are owed. This hardly makes them the bad guys.

I am with the hedge fund on this.

While I feel for the people of Argentina, who deserve better government I am sure, the country has to face the consequences of its actions.

It is hard to understate what a terrible, skill free, prejudiced, corrupt, self serving and utterly incompetent bunch of nasty clowns rule Argentina. Successive governments are invariably hopeless and CK is one of the worst.

Argentina remains a troubled country because of its politicians.
