almost all ATM's are empty. There aren't any lines to see at all. It just shows "out of order". Shops and restaurants are refusing credit card and ask for cash...
Is that Sarkozy busking with the squeeze-box?

Poor little bleeder - that fall from grace didn't take long.

One day you're the President of France, the next you're busking for money to a queue of people who don't have any money.

Tough times indeed.

This is worth a look.

Probasbly not "news" to many here but I wonder whether such thoughts might enter the mainstream.

It could be, but it'd be frowned upon as how are the "vunerable" going to be protected from the big bad world without a huge state?

We are not allowed to say PIIGs on here anymore as the acronym deeply upsets Driller! smile

Driller lives in France and apparently folk down there are very touchy about the phrase. He thinks it's, well, not exactly racist but at least deeply offensive on a national level as it lumps in the HBATS together. IIRC the Spanish are most bristly about it. I suppose it upsets them as it suggest porcine politicians and populous have had their snouts in the EZ trough. And as we all know, that's not true. wink

A term coined by Driller, on this thread a while ago.

It is an anagram of 'Hanging By A Thread'.

getting some momentum now, ECB cuts off some Greek banks and ECB President Draghi just admitted that while the ECB Governing Council would like Greece to stay, they will not take any further extraordinary measures to save it and will do everything they can to preserve their 'pristine' balance sheet.
