Draghi back trecking in conference - he has been told off by the Germans for his euphoric announcement last week. Weasel words from a politician - quelle surprise.

Last Friday, July 27th. 17.16 European markets have ended the week on a high. The IBEX 35 in Madrid closed up almost 4pc at 6,617.60, while the FTSE Mib in Milan ended the day up 3pc at 13,596. Draghi has lost his credibility IMO.

It was all "may/might happen", and he doesn't know if bond purchases are limited or unlimited. But we do know the counterparty will be our old friend the unstable lifeboat called the EFSF.... FTSE down nearly 1% since he started talking. I felt a bit sorry for Draghi, notwithstanding his bluster last week. He's quite correct that monetary policy can't correct a political vacuum. He's a clever guy who understands the illness but isn't allowed the key to the medicine cupboard.

Death Spiral begins again.. what a disaster of a conference. Laying out the same demands on leaders that will be unfulfilled again. Holidays for the European leaders now too, will be interesting to see how that's handled and how the markets will react to it.

Usual scenario, market manipulation to prey on emotions.

With regard to holidays, I mean what headlines will there be while they're away but of course on the flipside I can imagine if they were cancelled the markets would slaughter them for it.
