I'm ashamed to say Rochdale is my home town, as in, where I grew up and went to school. I've actually stopped telling people that now. When I meet people on holiday or through work, I lie and say and say I'm from Bury, which is the next town. Rochdale is a textbook example of how to let a once great, wealthy, industrial powerhouse of a town descend in to national embarrassment.
It's always on the news for the worst examples of society's failures, remember Gordon Brown's Bigotgate gaffe a few years ago? Rochdale. The area with the most benefit claimants per square mile, Rochdale.
I'm sick of it, the Labour/Liberal council leaders of this town have, in the last 30 years, made a monumental cockup of biblical proportions. Unbelievably, they get re-elected every year!!!!
They should use it in Colleges and Universities, a perfect case study.

No, can you imagine it if they did?

The actual number would be around 0.000375% to correct your calculations. If you want to use numbers, 95% of men on the sex offenders register in Greater Manchester are white British. Does that reflect on the wider society? Of course not. Clearly there's a problem as has been discussed as nauseam, however the assertion that this represents a majority is plainly false. There would be reportsd in the papers and stuff.

In the UK as a whole white males account for 78% of the number of registered sex offenders, with Asians accounting for 8% (based on numbers sentenced at court). However for the specific offences relating to grooming and sexual exploitation, Asian males account for 45% of offences, compared to 30% for white males.

How does that compare to the demographic makeup of society as a whole? Is any group proportionally over-represented?However for the specific offences relating to grooming and sexual exploitation, Asian males account for 45% of offences, compared to 30% for white males.

Hello?
Your opinions on this subject are well known to most people who frequent this site and have been a repetitive feature over some years. Of course you'd never directly make a statement of such directness, I don't think you have the courage, frankly. However your sarcasm and sniping comments are not that difficult to read through, and given they occur on each and every single thread on this subject, it's a reasonable assumption that you hold such an opinion. If not I stand to be corrected.968 said:

Over represented doesn't mean all, which was your assertion. Muntu said:
I am quite happy to stand by my opinions. I am sure that they are equally as repetitive as yours, although somehwhat less tedious, misleading, and agressive. As usual, you are throwing the ad hominems about in your normal fashion. Are you incapable of debating without doing so?
How ironic that the accusation of ad hominems is of course accompanied by a list of ad hominem insults. I've stated my position clearly and consistently without resorting to sarcasm and sniping, which is your particular tactic. With regard this particular discussion, I refer to your exchange with another poster referring to the fact that the people responsible for this horrendous crime represent a tiny minority of a particular population, which with predictable sarcasm attempted to parody that fact. I'm sure your next post will then claim you didn't say all, and good for you if that is the case.968 said:

You need to look up "ad hominem" sunshine [/quote Muntu]

Should I choose to employ sarcasm in my posts, I don't see that it is your place to imply that I shouldn't. I know you have this 'wanabe moderator' approach to both myself and others who disagree with you, but IMO moderating should be left to the moderators.
Your predictions of what my future posts may contain appear to be as accurate as some of the 'facts' that you post.

No, I really don't, so don't patronise me. Muntu said:

Your future posts are entirely predictable because they've been entirely consistent for the last few years. Unless a Damascene conversion occurs, it's a fair bet you'll post the same hate filled vitriol for the next few years too. I would guess that the problem is more certain parts of Pakistani culture that have been imported as opposed to Islamic culture, given the predominately Pakistani origin of the offenders as opposed to their Indonesian, Bangladeshi, Syrian, Libyan, Nigerian, Egyptian, Iranian, Turkish, Sudanese, Algerian, Moroccan, Iraqi, Afghan, Malaysian, Uzbeki, Saudi, Yemenese, Kazakh, Nigeri, Tunisian, Burkina Fasoian, Malian, Senegalese, Guinean, Somalian, Azeri, Jordanian, Albanian etc origin.
But I must confess I know little of Pakistani culture.
