I would guess that the problem is more certain parts of Pakistani culture that have been imported as opposed to Islamic culture, given the predominately Pakistani origin of the offenders as opposed to their Indonesian, Bangladeshi, Syrian, Libyan, Nigerian, Egyptian, Iranian, Turkish, Sudanese, Algerian, Moroccan, Iraqi, Afghan, Malaysian, Uzbeki, Saudi, Yemenese, Kazakh, Nigeri, Tunisian, Burkina Fasoian, Malian, Senegalese, Guinean, Somalian, Azeri, Jordanian, Albanian etc origin.

But I must confess I know little of Pakistani culture.

I don't think there's any part of Pakistani culture that supports these sickening crimes, indeed the punishment they'd receive in Pakistan would be a lot more severe than here. You are correct that much of the cultural issues that do affect certain communities in this country relate to practices occurring in rural and often backward communities from the Indian subcontinent. I've seen this firsthand working in areas in the NW and was genuinely shocked at the attitudes and behaviour of some people.

No, I really don't, so don't patronise me.
You clearly do

Your future posts are entirely predictable because they've been entirely consistent for the last few years. Unless a Damascene conversion occurs, it's a fair bet you'll post the same hate filled vitriol for the next few years too.
I think you may be getting a little emotional. Incidentally, you prediction 10 minutes ago was incorrect. Another trend you have possibly missed?

How does that compare to the demographic makeup of society as a whole? Is any group proportionally over-represented?
Over represented doesn't mean all, which was your assertion.
It was, was it? Perhaps you could quote where I asserted this?

Not at all. Sadly the side displayed in he media these days is largely negative, it really isn't the case. There's a rich culture in arts, music and literature which is not portrayed at all.

It is a fair point to make however, given stories like this one.

Yes, I agree - I should have clarified my statement by saying uneducated tribal? culture. The sort of culture that settles disputes between villages by trading women.

Here we go again, but this isn't newsworthy,

Published on Saturday 3 November 2012 09:52

Twelve men have been arrested by police investigating a suspected child sex grooming ring in Leeds.

The men, aged 17 to 33, were held in a series of “pre-planned arrests”, mainly in Beeston, following a probe thought to stretch back several months.

Their alleged offences relate, at this stage, to a single girl, described only as a “juvenile”.

Police have not revealed her age or ethnicity, or the ethnicity of the arrested men.

But the YEP understands the case does not mirror that which saw nine Asian men jailed in May for exploiting white girls in Rochdale.

Chief Supt Paul Money, commander of the City and Holbeck Division of West Yorkshire Police, said: “On Wednesday morning officers attended a

number of addresses, primarily in the Beeston area, to carry out pre-planned arrests as part of an investigation into serious sexual offences.

“A total of 12 men, aged 17 to 33, were arrested and taken in custody. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

Developments in the case are not expected for several months as police continue to carry out intensive inquiries.

Mahboob Nazir, vice chairman of the Abu Haraira Mosque in Beeston, said there had been suggestions that police were investigating men in the area.

He added: “It’s devastating – an absolute shock that it could be happening under our noses. You hear about things like this happening in other areas, but you don’t think of it happening in your own locality.

“Anyone guilty of these acts should be dealt with according to the full force of the law.

“This could be anybody’s daughter, anybody’s child – a life is a life.”

Beeston and Holbeck councillor David Congreve said he was shocked at the arrests.

“I think it’s very sad, not just for Beeston but for Leeds, to think that this sort of thing might be going on,” he said.

More in Lancashire

Lancashire Telegraph said:
A POLICE probe has been launched into claims that gangs of men raped and abused vulnerable under-age girls in care.

Details of the alleged abuse have emerged after a mum in her 20s claimed she was a victim while living in two care homes in East Lancashire as a teenager.

She told police she was groomed and molested in return for alcohol, cigarettes and drugs while away from the homes.

The allegations refer to gangs of Asian men who it is claimed hung around the homes she lived in while under the care of Lancashire County Council

Statistics show 645 child groomers were identified by Lancashire police between April 2011 and March 2012. Around 96 per cent of those groomers were male and three per cent were female.

In total 77 per cent of groomers were classed as white British, nine per cent were Asian Pakistani and three per cent were Asian Indian.

depends on what the stats are actually referring to.

if it's just bradford, then the asian population represents 22%, for lancashire, 6.5%, or britain 6%
