"inadvertant" book burning

Man is past Darwin, I'm afraid. At least when it comes to the intelligent being a driver of natural selection. These people are breeding like rabbits, and these stupid people are not being removed from the gene pool at all.
Best we Nuke 'em from Orbit, thenIt's the only way to be sure

Allahu akbar, apparently. Apparently God sits up in his sky bit, looking down, and seemingly he is quite happy his little band of fked up, ignorant, squallorific tribes people are doing this sort of thing, killing, and rioting, and apparently, he doesn't mind at all. In fact, as far as I can see, they seem to be doing Gods will. Religion... So stupid, even the dumb can join in.

Thats the thanks we get for helping these savages. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=54c_1330621949
Will we ever learn?
If those soldiers whose graves they've desecrated hadn't done their job, I'm sure those primitive savages who desecrated them wouldn't be alive today if the Nazis were running their country - they'd have been 'cleansed' decades ago !
And isn't is strange how they all hate the west, but are more than happy to use western developed technology like camera phones. It's obvious from the history of their country that any technical development or intellectual progress stopped dead a millenium ago, stifled by extreme religion.

The more civilised we become the less likely we are to surviveHumans are on the cusp of being able to take control of their own genetic destiny though breaking the usual rules of evolution. By understanding genetics we have hacked the game and now have the tools available to play the game of life a new way.
It's very difficult to set expectations on the future human endeavour as we are drawn towards understanding the world in a way that is difficult to articulate. What of our assumptions in economics if we double the time in which a human is capable of productive work or the ITER project makes energy many times cheaper? Suddenly the old rules don't apply any more. When it comes to good research funding put away your spreadsheets because the returns can dwarf the outlay, you might be able to calculate the increased return on a pest resistant crop but try calculating the returns on the mundane and humdrum Haber-Bosch process or Shukhov cracking process. Incalculable.
We owe it all to the power of our brains to forecast events, abstract ideas and organise memories. How did we manage to tease so much out of just a few neural circuits?

Could Afghanistan "government" support it's own military needs without direct foreign military assistance or would it be a Vietnam situation of gradual collapse? Is there the opportunity for a partition in Afghanistan between the Taliban controlled area and the rest of Afghanistan?
Just watching this week's documentary programme about the marines in Backwardangrystan proves they won't be able to do this. The troops supposed to be taking a lead on a mission wouldn't and as for the police force being trained (roused!) by British Bobbies, well...Ignorant, feckless, st people in charge = backward, pointless st hole.
Get us out!
This should be interesting. Given the death and violence over a burnt book, you would almost expect armageddon at the death a women and children at the hands of this rogue US soldier.
Oddly though, I'm think they will probably regard the book burning as worse and the reaction will be some what less. Lets hope so anyway.

Another reason to pull em out then. We are training their security forces to protect the people but all they do is steal and intimidate once they have a gun, fk em, they ain't worth it
I say you are right. The Soldier obviously lost his mind; lock him up forever or turn him over to them. I agree with you though, the book is more important to them than throw away items like women or children (especially female ones). To be sure though, the tragedy's usefullness will not go unexploited.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
