Google search that took 10 seconds.

Totally comparable and I bet there's many more examples but I'm not going to waste any more of my time looking them up.
To reiterate, every country has s including our own. Just ignore them.
You made the comparison than and EDL march was the same thing. Expressing your opinion in a mrach isn't the same and smashing up a grave yard.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/edl-mem...

I made the point that this is all because of a book being burnt as being like for like, would burning a dictionary get the same reaction for anyone in this country ? No, it wouldn't.

The point was that every country has its undesirable citizens and if you judge a whole country on them then more fool you.

Oh whatever, I'm not going to bother arguing this because my point wasn't even specifically about the EDL. I just used them as an example.

Some people on this planet require an iron fist to keep them in check. It is just a fact of life. Pretending otherwise is not going to do us or them any favours.
Equally the reverse is true, just look at how feckless and 'lost' many of our own countrymen and women are without the firm hand of state control to guide, cajole and, if required, force them to become useful members of society. The more civilised places aren't so because they have a totalitarian state, or because the people there are more civilised by nature. It's the authoritarian stranglehold that causes the problems in any area, or at any time, when it is released. State control is the problem, not the answer.
There was an interesting interview on radio 4 yesterday.
apparently 2 journolists have been taken prisoner by a warlord of a particular town.
R4 was speaking to a transistional government spokesperson.
the warlord runs the town and does not take orders from the government.
when asked why this was the spokeperson says why should he? he wouldnt listen to the government if he had proof of a spy.
when asked if he had seen the proof he said he didnt need to the warlord was a fighter for lybia and therefor an honest man looking after the country.
of course the torture and extra judicial murders he is alledgedly doing to people he thinks are gadafi supporters is probably also fine.
mental. we should not get involved in anything in these backward countries.

Why should you make an opinion of an entire group of millions and millions of people because of the actions of a few. The vast majority of libyans and muslims would never dream of doing what a small group of people have done. My point I am trying to make is that in every sector of society there will be an utter like these people who vandalised the war graves.

I thought about the PH threads when I heard this on the radio this afternoon. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/01/24/uk-britai...
A number of prescient posters did reflect on whether it would be wise for us to get involved in helping clear Gaddafi and similar 'leaders' out and if we'd see some gratitude and better relations from the liberated the west helped.
Answering that in spades at the moment aren't they?

You can offer an islamic country freedom from a repressive dictator and the opportunity for democracy but don't hold your breath for them having a clue what to do with it.http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/01/24/uk-britai...

Hmmm. You can certainly be sure a small bunch of extremists will try to fk things up, but I'm not sure we should be writing off the entire country.Bill said:
