Well, its that day of the year again, you know, the one where the council tax bill falls through your letterbox and you feel a tear in your eye as you open it.

The robbing thieving lying cheating fking wking tossing council just make the figure up im sure.

Ive now to pay 150 a month, for what, fk all as far as i can see.Reading through the stty paper booklet ive found a few things my hard earned goes on.

RUBBISH COLLECTION--What you mean one pokey little fking bin every two weeks, even then you wont come to me, ive to leave it , handle facing outwards on the edge of my property, then it half misses the bin lorry, plus your truck spews out hydraulic oil all over the rd.

STREET LIGHTS--fk off, the nearest one to me is approx 1/4 mile away, at night i cant even see my cars on my drive its so dark you wkers.

EDUCATION--fk off again, we have no kids, never will, end of.

HIGHWAYS--hold up you wkers, isnt that what my rd tax is for, plus tax/vat on fuel.

POLICE--What police, never see them in the village, the one time in 8 yrs of living here that we did need them, after being broken into, it took the tts 2 days to come out, even then they did nothing.

FIRE SERVICE--Touch wood ive never needed them, but do feel it unfair i pay more than someone in a smaller house, does it cost more to cut me out of my fking car than someone who lives in a 2 bed house. Is my cat more money to get down from a tree just because my house is bigger.

SOCIAL HOUSING--Oh good, im paying for lazy chavvy tossers to live in a nice home, so glad.

PARKS AND OPEN SPACES--Im in a wheelchair, not really my thing thanks, besides i live in a beautiful essex village so why go into a town park.

LITTER PICKING-- Another fking waste of money, our local parish council organise litter picking in the village, by volunteers. As in FREE

So Essex/Braintree fking council, can you please tell me what my 150 a month gets me, cos im bksed if I can see what.

8/10

Lots of swearing, main point made, lack of closing statement.

Good effort.

ETA - At the same, time, not quite enough swearing.

I'm deducting a point because he fails the CD/Waitrose shopping test by obviously living in a cheap house. His mothly payment is very low. Otherwise, top rant.

Why do they call it Braintree when there isn't a brain or a tree to be found?

Jesus, how much do you boys pay.

That 150 is for a "D" band property.

So you listed exactly what you get for your money and you're question is tell you exactly what you get??

Street lights - the council light the streets not your drive.

Education - So you don't want children, you had an education - who paid for that? Do you really not see the benefit of education being available for everyone?

Police - Hope you never need them in an emergency.

Fire - Hope you don't need them either.

Social Housing - Hope you never need that if you fall on hard times. Social housing is not just for layabouts.

It's Essex. You get what you pay for. He pays for Essex.

My LA have put round a questionnaire as to whether to move the parish boundary. All it will mean is a change of post code. And higher rates, and all but double parish rates. It effects one side of a road and evidently they've voted for it. Ratable value will go up when the re-rating comes in. So the turkeys are voting for Christmas. It will, they suggest, make the houses more valuable because theyed be 'moved' into a posher area. By standing still it seems. That's clever.

I'd love to be paying 150. Having said that I agree with everything in the rant bar the kids. We have two.

a ten second google reveals that you are getting pretty much the same as most other council tax payers.

You may not like where your money goes, but they ARE telling you where it is being spent.

My parents paid for my education, I went to a private school.

Police, yes your right, hope I don't need them in an emergency, seeing as it took them two days to come out for a break in.

Just noticed my council paid "lee valley regional park" the sum of 1.7 million pounds last yr, why the fk do that , it's nowhere nr Braintree/ my house.

Rather an abrupt question sorry, not sure how to phrase it better, but what council tax discount do you get for that?

And, now I think about it, you shouldn't begrudge this bit. It keeps the tracksuit people with pitbulls out of your village.

Admit that I didn't bother to investigate our tax banding when I moved into our house ten years back. This year for some reason (I blame P.H.) decided to compare tax bands with my neighbours houses. One of those houses is a new build of about 2007, a detached 4 bed en-suite blablawhereas my house is a 2 bed 17th century detached cottage, very basic by today's modern homes, my choice! However, I was gob-smacked to see that the 4 bedder has a lower banding than my place! Worse still I cannot appeal. In fact all other 7 houses in our Hamlet are banded lower or the same and ours is the smallest home!

Thank-you OP. Good news for a change - a reduction of 45 quid a month to 185 for a Band G.

Must have taken a bit of time to get the new Direct Debit setup after we moved...

Are you sure? Royal Mail does its own thing with post codes. Caused all sorts on angst around here as people on the Wirral and in Southport got Liverpool post codes. smile
