My parents paid for my education, I went to a private school.

Police, yes your right, hope I don't need them in an emergency, seeing as it took them two days to come out for a break in.

Just noticed my council paid "lee valley regional park" the sum of 1.7 million pounds last yr, why the fk do that , it's nowhere nr Braintree/ my house.
They were ripped off.

Admit that I didn't bother to investigate our tax banding when I moved into our house ten years back. This year for some reason (I blame P.H.) decided to compare tax bands with my neighbours houses. One of those houses is a new build of about 2007, a detached 4 bed en-suite blablawhereas my house is a 2 bed 17th century detached cottage, very basic by today's modern homes, my choice! However, I was gob-smacked to see that the 4 bedder has a lower banding than my place! Worse still I cannot appeal. In fact all other 7 houses in our Hamlet are banded lower or the same and ours is the smallest home!
Why can't you appeal?

Rather an abrupt question sorry, not sure how to phrase it better, but what council tax discount do you get for that?
What, for being in a wheelchair, nothing.

Reason being I don't have a downstairs shower/bath and I keep wheelchair in garage when not in use, that's not classed as house. But to be honest I would not expect a discount just because I'm disabled .

Why can't we just have a fking flat tax... The current tax system is so opaque that I have literally no idea how much of my money the government are getting. How is that a good system? There's no accountability.

They say there's a 2.5% rise in VAT, or whatever. How do I know how that's going to effect me in absolute terms?

If we just had income tax then it'd be a lot easier. It either goes up, or down. I can see a amount of how much I'm going to lose out or win by in a given financial year. Everyone's more responsible for the taxes they're trying to collect.

I'd frankly rather just get 50% deducted from my pay cheque and then no other taxes on anything than the current way it's done.

I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding concerning UK taxation today.

It is not for your benefit. It is not meant to be fair. It is not for the benefit of taxpayers at all.

It is to intended to make the Political parties in power sufficiently charged with funds to ensure trebles all round at the top tables they sit upon, unlimited pensions for being an MP for twenty minutes and huge expense accounts requiring no supervision whatsoever.

In addition Taxation must ensure that vote buying from the electorate on Benefits is sufficiently large so as to ensure reelection and further trebles all round.

The concepts of simplicity and fairness left taxation when Mr Pitt introduced Income tax many years ago. They are not returning any day soon.

You are the mug who works his nuts off to ensue the unemployed can live in a lifestyle you can only dream of. That is your role in life.

Do not pass go do not collect any money. Unless you are and idle scrounger.

That, I fear, is life as a taxpayer in the UK. I wish this was a rant.

I think its factual. Taxpayers are mugs today. Scroungers have rights.

Not good. But factual

And probably causes them serious arse twitch. I once heard the result of saying someone from The Wirral came from Liverpool. It was like Margot Leadbetter in meltdown with a full on Hyacinth Bucket upgrade. Scary.

And now, on the Wirral at least, we have CH postcodes again . . . yet are still lumped in with Murkeyside!

Why can't you appeal?
Had a read through the paperwork and they say you can only appeal within 6 months of moving in or due to any changes that may affect the value of your property, any substantial change to your property. The one area where I may be able to 'have a go' is a change of tax payer. At the moment I am the tax payer so I may switch it to my wife as tax payer! Should be interesting.
