If you do mean Furman, then reading that I would agree.
However, for a sports writer/editor nobody will ever beat our Bill Boddy.
Bill had a similar sort of parallel with Furman Bisher in that they both carried on using their old typewriters, refusing to move with new technology (see below).
Bill, affectionately as WB (William Boddy) was long-time editor of Motor Sport - 1936-1991.
Bill died aged 98, his career spanned 81 years - he wrote his first piece for Motor Sport in 1930 and filed his final column for the magazine in June last year, just a week before he died, still working on his old typewriter and making copious handwritten corrections to his copy.
I have some of his communication in my possession where his typewriter had got so worn, some characters simply punched a hole through the paper!
