Today I received an email from a friend who I know well. My friend is of good character, balanced and does not live in the UK any more, but was truly horrified by the Video Clip which is linked at the bottom of this post. I have not ever received a political email from him and having watched it I cringed throughout the whole of it.

I'm not going to pass any of my comments on it, and for the sake of this debate, I have no political or religious views on it. I am interested in the opinion of other PH'ers but ONLY if the following rules of engagement apply:

• MODS - Feel free to delete this topic at any time if you think it may violate the T's and C's, or if it looks to be getting out of hand.
• No racial remarks whatsoever, what I would like is to have a totally reasoned debate.
• Do you see the video to be portraying extremists, or a normal demonstration of a mainstream differing religion that is exercising their right to a freedom of speech in a country that they have lived in and been brought up in?
• Do you think that this is just a balanced divide between differing cultures, and that multiple religions can co-exist side by side in a multicultural society?
• Do you think that it is possible for two very different religions to co-exist side by side and still accept each others view points without breeding extremists?
• Do you view the western objector as a valid complainer or as a protagonist? The uploader for the video calls themselves as "BurnIslamBurnAllah"
• If you click on the link you get "PigPiss4Mosques" - internet propaganda is the new weapon of choice for those that do not have the necessary resource, but none the less the video does highlight questions that need answering.

This is way above my comfort zone of engagement, but I believe it would be beneficial for all to be publicly discussed. I was equally shocked when I watched the clip, regardless of how well staged this clip may or may not have been - hence the reason for the post.

Which part is sad - why won't this be open for long? Please post your opinion; after all that's the purpose of this thread

It won't remain open for so long because it will end up with views the owners of the site will be uncomfortable having on the web.

It's sad because this is not the country it once was and many people died making it what it was.

That clip is from a programme that was on a month or so ago called My Hometown Fanatics. It isn't on iplayer anymore unfortunately but it was quite interesting and worth watching if you can find it elsewhere. She interviews quite a wide range of people, including some EDL people and some local muslims. It came across very much that there are a small number of agitators who are trying to whip up ill feeling by exploiting ignorance on both sides.

Presumably the PH' ers anticipate the Mods deleting the posts.

I doubt they will providing the discussion is not racist not abusive and not inflammatory. Up to us really.

I do find the absolute refusal by all politicians to have an adult conversation and discussion about the consequences that uncontrolled immigration may have upon the UK very dangerous and damaging

Sadly many people see even that statement as inappropriate.

I do not subscribe to the convention that any discussions about such problems are fraught with danger.

I will watch the thread with interest.

The muslim community really need to get a grip of these people/group's!!! How these people can be brainwashed into these sort of idea's really is unbelievable i really can't understand how they can hate this country so much after everything we give them.

The women in the burqa telling the white women that she should put some clothe's on and is wanting to seduce the men really is astonishing.

the muslim community always claim that its the minority that gives them a bad name....

from the video the "minority" they talk about seems to include quite alot of people... a "majority" if you will

Anyway, I don't see any more people there than at the average EDL / BNP march. Also, with the roads being closed that was an organised and pre-arranged march which the film makers did not just "come across" IMO. Very poor. Also the fact it's been posted by someone with the youtube username "Burnislamburnallah" is not helpful.

Devil's advocate.. maybe she believes that to be true and is just practising her right of freedom of expression? You ideals may not be theirs?
