Great publicity for a good cause. Female Circumcision is Mutilation.
And yet male circumcision is seen as normal, and acceptable.Pretty fking nasty...and here, there are estimated to be around 3000 of these a year in London alone...

But then, male circumcision does not include removing the glans penis as well as the foreskin, whereas in general, female circumcision includes removal of both the labia minora and majora and often the total excision of the clitoris (on the basis that it is unsavoury for the female to feel sexual pleasure) The whole lot is then sown up and the wound heals that way. Only leaving a very narrow openening for urination and menstrual flow.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to get into a possing contest, (see what I did there?), over which is worse, more painful, etc. I think both should be stopped. I merely commented that the male version is looked at as the norm. Pretty fking nasty...and here, there are estimated to be around 3000 of these a year in London alone...

However, the point both Andy and Myself are trying to make is that in the case of both female and male circumcision, perfectly healthy, normal, sexual tissue is removed from a child unable to give its consent.
Trying to make out that one form or the other is worse is a non argument in my opinion, its a bodily autonomy issue whether you're a male or a female and the fact that females are (rightly) protected by law in all western countries where males are not is the problem we have.
I could get into the damage caused by male circumcisions(there is a BUJ study I could cite) but it is meaningless in the wider context of the equality of legal protection, which is the crux of my argument against male circ.
As I said in an earler example, it cannot be right that it is illegal for a pin prick to draw blood from a females genitals causing no long term harm or reduction in sensitivity, but stripping 50%+ of the skin from a males penis(often without anaesthetic) is legal.
If you're interested to hear an african womans take on both male and female circ, google Ayaan Hirsi Ali Circumcision and you'll find a couple of good videos by her discussing the issues without making it a gender issue.
