Hells teeth you really are so thoroughly immersed in the belief of your own prescience you truly think that you are capable of second guessing what a whole group of people and an entire organisation were going to do at a point in time several years ago based on aged media reports.

Wow... that is on many levels very special!

To actually answer the question you asked I am perfectly happy to contend I do not know one way or the other and I am perfectly happy to accept I am not on a level that would even allow me to contend I would be able to make a judgement one way or the other, the issue is you seem to be manifestly of the belief you can say for absolute certain you are.

Do you honestly and truthfully not realise what a bloody nutter that makes you sound like?
I'm guessing on way you're guessing the other, I'm not sure how that makes me the nutter?

The point is, you and the twiggy kid seem to be holding Diamond up as some kind of all seeing banking god, and I'm pointing out that back in 2008 another team of (at the time) well respected banking professionals did a deal that subsequently turned out to be very bad. Diamond wanted to do the same deal, he was lucky that he didn't.

If you can't respond with a reasoned argument then insults are just as welcome, they don't strengthen your case imo.

Hang on did you not read what I put? I will even quote it...

Well, 'don't know' kind of brings that particular debate to an end. I suspect it's because because you can't find any supporting evidence to contradict my post.

Wow.... you are a special special person... If you truly think that you have built a credible case for your position by quoting selected aged articles and by pointing out I am honest enough to say I am not in possession of enough facts that allow a conclusion to be reached, coupled with that we are expected to accept that you are somehow able to predict the course of a CEO of a multi billion pound organisations decisions on top of all of that. Then I think you may need to seek a bit of professional assistance with your delusions of grandeur problem!

RBS went through with the deal (the deal that Diamond wanted), why do you assume that Barclays wouldn't have done the same?
FFS, this is painful. I don't assume anything. He might have doen the deal, in which case we wouldn't be having this debate, because Barclays would be bust and Diamond would be in disgrace.

He may well not have done the deal. He may have won the bid, done due dilligence and walked away. We will never know. Personally I doubt he would have doen the deal. I think he would have put pragmatism before ego and walked away. But I admit I could be wrong about that.

What I am saying, loud and clear, is that HE DIDN'T DO THE fkING DEAL. So it can't be held against him. You have no way of knowing that it was luck that stopped him, because he didn't compete to the end of the bid so never had the chance to excersize his skill. So to hold it against him is just a completely pathetic arguement. If that's the best you have to throw at him, then as I've said time and time again, pure envy dressed up as legitimate concern.

As for your accusation that Heppers and I see Diamond as some kind of banking god, I haven't seen any evidence in that from Heppers posts and I don't believe that.

But I do think that Diamond has led Barclays thru an incredibly difficult time in banking, and they've emerged out the other side not unscathed, but in far better shape than most if not all of their competitors.

I wish to fk you'd had shares in RBS, LloydsTSB, Northern Rock or Lehman Bros. Then you'd really have something to whinge about.

Why would performance leading to a share price fall of 28%, and a 44.8% drop in profits, deserve a bonus of any kind?
It might do if across the sector the average share price fall was 56% and an 89.6% drop in profits. Then your figures would represent a fantastic performance in a troubled sector.

A bit like Barclays, who continued to produce profits when many of their competitors actully went bust and mugs like me had to bail them out.
RYH64E, you asked the above question, and I answered it. You haven't responded to my answer I dont think.
My question is this. If ACME Widgets sees a 44% drop in profits, during a period when the world of widgets was in total turmoil and many widget companies that had been major players in the industry for centuries actually went bust, would you not conclude that the CEO of ACME Widgets is to be congratulated for successfully guiding the comapny thru such troubled times? Especially if that 44% drop in profits still yielded profits in the billions??

I've responded to very few of your posts because I dislike your posting style, it's too abusive and not very well thought out, you come across as a petulant child.

Utter brilliance... i don't like what you say or how you say it so I will take my ball home....

As a rule I refrain from being personal but you really are a petulant, pathetic imbecile that needs to wind their neck in and work out that their IQ and shoe size bear a correlation that is often not seen!

Make an intelligent stand or give up and go home!

I'm happy to have an intelligent debate but this has stopped being fun, I'm too old for name calling and insults.

Base one single argument or stand on a demonstrable fact and not just what you think about what someone else said then I might just be there.

You are the one to question someone's intellect ? Seriously ? Trust heppers to pat you on the back. Herd mentality.

Heppers, roll out one of yours, worn out, 'insults', like Komrade.

Bless.

Sorry mate, but you've completely lost me there? Why would you cut half a line from a question I raised on a totally different thread? What's that got to do with Bob Diamonds renumeration package. Either it's way too clever a reference for me to work out or it's so stupid it's beyond comprehension. My money is on the latter, but please, explain the your point and prove me wrong.

Another half quote from a completely different thread. Pathetic.
