THESE sickening pictures show the “inhumane” cell where a young Blackpool boy was locked up by his cruel mother and her partner.

The 10-year-old boy was forced to live in a padlocked outhouse which contained just a single, soiled mattress and potty for a year ...while the couple enjoyed the comfort of their home.

Detectives investigating the case today said they had “never seen anything like it” and described the cell as “barbaric.”

The boy’s mother, who is in her 30s, and her partner, a man in his 40s, locked the boy in the cell every night and sometimes during the day if he “stole” food from the family’s kitchen.

Det Con Matt Normanton, of Blackpool Police’s Public Protection Unit, said: “I’ve never seen anything like it – I hope I never see anything like it again.

I know it's to protect the child but it's disgusting the parents identity is kept secret. Absolute vermin.

ETA: Title seems to have messed up, mod edit please!

We get the society we deserve i guess. What's the betting that this family were well known to the local social services, and that they were abused themselves as kids. No doubt they will be convicted and attacked viciously in jail, but that won't stop it happening again.

What would though?

Eg. would you accept potential parents having to pass an 'exam of competence' or whatever; or do you consider the family sacrosanct and none of the government's bussiness?
