I suspect the Tories will be preparing themselves for the normal 'protest votes' - I'm not sure they are fully prepared for quite how large this protest vote is going to be...
No UKIP candidate in my ward for the council elections next month oyster said:
Problem is, if they go chasing what you call core support, how will they hold onto the centrist floating voters who hover between Tory/Labour/Lib Dems?
The current Tories are quite far left of centre. The highest ratings Cameron has seen was when he "vetoed" the EU treaty. With what is going on in the Eurozone there has never been a better (or a more rewarding time) to bring up a renegotiation/exit strategy regarding the EU.
This position is the popular (centre ground) position.

Interesting.
There is no euro sign on my iPad or laptop! And no, I don't want to know how to download one thanks!
As for the colours, blue x red = purple, + a bit of yellow. It can't be that simple?
So UKIP need a bit of rebranding. Saatchi and Saatchi still around?
I think you misread what has been said here. I have never voted anything other than Tory. I will be voting UKIP.There is no euro sign on my iPad or laptop! And no, I don't want to know how to download one thanks!

They are moving from a fringe party to a serious one. The pound should be removed from their logo as recent events have proved UKIP's opposition to the Euro to be completely correct. The pound/euro issue has been won (or lost by the euro!).
The purple/yellow thing needs sorting as they are now a mainstream party and they will be mocked for being unprofessional. Like it or not, it matters. Being taken seriously is important.
I find it amusing that there is no 'euro' symbol on my laptop or iPad despite the euro being in circulation for over ten years.
It is important for UKIP to appear professional if the masses are to start taking them seriously, and I sincerely hope that the masses do start taking them seriously. I am no branding expert, but purple and yellow is not quite right.
I mentioned Saatchi and Saatchi because I seem to recall they started the whole party political branding thing with Madge back in the eighties.
So what colour/colours for UKIP?

I thought it was a news feature from originally record in the 70's when they were outside the train factory!
Yes maybe but its breath of fresh air to actualy get some substance from a party that seems realy keen to sort things out , not just the same
old flanel, false promisises and heaps of bullst with a slick presentation from
the same old same old blue or red ties that have more than a fair chance to sort
things out but failing ... ,

Genuine question here - are UKIP becoming more serious, or is it more a case of more people drifting into "their" territory? They're still rather single issue for me, but it will certainly be interesting to see how they do in the upcoming elections.hornet said:

Until a few months ago I would have agreed with your 'single issue' party concerns. I initially became interested in UKIP, and more so NIgel Farage, from stumbling across one, and subsequently many, youtube videos of Mr. Farage standing up in the Euro Parliament and 'speaking his (and my) mind'. A serious breath of fresh air and to me someone telling these unelected Eurocrats what us ordinary tax payers think of them.
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, he is appearing more and more on radio and TV and speaks with common sense on pretty well everything I have heard him talk about.
Just my opinion.
I think he is on question time tomorrow night...

When I voted UKIP in the General Election most of my friends did not have the courage of their convictions.
They, come the next GE, which could be sooner than 2015 the way things are going, 'won't get fooled again!'
God saved Farage in the plane crash for a reason!
What would cause an election sooner? I was just wondering about a Con/UK IP coalition They, come the next GE, which could be sooner than 2015 the way things are going, 'won't get fooled again!'

Do I want Nigel Farage as a prime minister in this country?
Err No – but he appears to speak passionately about the European question. This is a good thing.
Am I a strong supporter of UKIP policies?
Err no – but some of them i agree with.
Are they a still a bit of a joke as party?
Well yes.
BUT
The thought of Milliband getting in with more disaster prone Labour policies doesn’t fill me with glee.
The Liberals don’t appear to be a party of anything, and I think are just glad they are sort-of in power.
The Tories are proving themselves no better at reducing the sleaze, or proving they can think their way through the policies. The last 2 or 3 months have just shown them up to be just above Labour in terms of competence. The link with the Murdoch’s and Rebecca Brooks does not look good.
I will be voting UKIP because I want to register my anger at the above 3 not even touching on the real policies that I think are hurting this country. If that means the Tories get a bloody nose then so be it. If that means that my vote is considered wasted by others, then so be it. A good mate is a Conservative Association chairman and I know the elephant in the room in Tory circles is just how many of them think that someone speaking out like Farage is long overdue.
As Farage gets more exposure it becomes self-perpetuating. All it takes is a few key young and upwardly Tories, say Daniel Hannan (good example ?) to jump ship, and they will be seriously up and running.
