Billionaire to Build Titanic II
Discussion
He says an exact replica but with modern tech and more lifeboats. That initial voyage list will probably contain 75% of the world's wealth, I predict.

Who in their right mind would ever buy a ticket for its maiden voyage?
I love the idea of it though, although I'd rather see a faithful recreation, steam engines and all. An aquatic Orient Express experience, a slice of Edwardian luxury - even if it is slower and less efficient than modern cruise liners that by comparison mostly look ghastly.
I eagerly await a follow up with a (sort of) sister ship named Poseidon.

Palmer, a self-made mining billionaire, said he had commissioned state-owned Chinese company CSC Jinling Shipyard to construct Titanic II with the same dimensions as its predecessor.
Shouldn't it really be built in Belfast? Or is there no more room in the dry docks at Harland and Wolff?Edited by Berlin Mike on Monday 30th April 20:17

Hasn't he also said it will be designed not to sink?
Though a statement of the obvious, it's a little too close to tempting fate.
Best not employ an Italian captain.

I hope that the "exact replica" part is modified to exclude the later-discovered design flaw that aided the sinking of the original.
