It is twenty years since Robert Maxwell 'jumped ship'.It now comes to light his 'sparring' partner is equally corrupt.
Both individuals show how rotten to the core the popular press has become.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts......

As usual the Daily Mash has nailed this. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/business/old-ba...Mash said: Unemployable misfits who spend your money on themselves said multi-billionaire Rupert Murdoch was not fit to run a business, particularly the incredibly successful one he has built from scratch. Tom Watson, the chubbly Labour MP who used public money to buy £4,800 worth of food in a single year, said: "Rupert Murdoch is a total b d. How he ever became successful is a mystery. Watson was last night filling a trolley with M&S pizzas and thanking members of the public for their support.

But isn't that the actual point ? Has Roop himself lied to Parliament ? orIs it his executives / foot soldiers that have - but the British Public have never heard of them, so umm, err, let's f k Murdoch - because he is the nasty Villan face of it all? Scapegoat is obvious scapegoat IMHO

Scapegoat is obvious scapegoat IMHO From the report "On the basis of the facts and evidence before the committee, we conclude that, if at all relevant times Rupert Murdoch did not take steps to become fully informed about phone hacking, he turned a blind eye and exhibited wilful blindness to what was going on in his companies and publications." I have no knowledge of corporate law but IIRC as head man is he not responsible to be informed and not turn a blind eye ? A scapegoat would be going after an exectuive / foot soldier...... ? This report is just a taster of what is to come ......looking forward to seeing what will come out of the main events

They will ALL have a dirty secret of some sort, which will now certainly be getting an airing. They are about to learn a lesson - you do not cross Rupert.

This is why they have to get him when they have the chance. For years MPs have been getting cosy with the Murdoch media, fearful of them and also needing their support. I remember John Prescott describing this cosy relationship between the police the tabloids and the government years ago, most people just laughed at him but it turned out he was right. He said then, the Government was simply too scared to do anything about the media. After he aired his criticism his affairs all became public. You can't continue to have a situation where the media have such a strong influence in the government.

I have no regard for Rupert Murdoch whatsoever.
However unless Mt Murdoch is charged and convicted of a serious criminal offence there is no basis as far as I now to remove him as a Director. The politicians can hand wring and chatter. But there is as yet no real prospect of such action.
This is just opportunist hot air by hot air merchants who are seeking personal political gain from grandstanding. I think we are several years away from any conviction if in fact Murdoch is ever charged. Given his age, I would have thought the grim reaper is his biggest challenge, and that prosecution is most unlikely and conviction even less likely.
But the grandstanding serves Politicians like Tom Watson well. That is what politics in the UK has come to and shame on the politicians for this.

According to the Times today, Newscorp shares rose yesterday and a quote from a Wall St fellow was something along the lines of:
"Nobody cares about newspapers; we buy the shares for the US tv channels and frankly couldn't care less about what happens in the UK".
Therefore I think the chance of anything happening as a result of this witch hunt is insignificant.
As Soovy has said, these idiots are fighting a battle they cannot win...
