Wasnt she on a documentary about 4 years ago? As a 15 year old she seemed very pleasant and mature, not really what i was expecting.

Her mother was an utter waste of space though.

Whenever I see a story like this, I always think "why dont they tie her to the back of a car and drive for one hour at 3 miles an hour every day. As she gets skinnier, up the speed/distance".

She'll soon learn to run. And i've just saved the NHS millions.

There are so many shocking aspects to this story. But her Mum deserves a shoeing for the enabling of her addiction. It is to me the same as someones parents going out to buy drugs for them.

Addiction is bad, but helping your kid get to the stage where she suffers organ failure at 19 due to being a lardball is worse.

Yup, I'd lay the blame squarely at her mother's feet.

Looking at the photos of her as a child, in her 19 years on this planet, she's never known any other way to live.

Did you see the pictures? Her mother was pushing food into her as fast as it would go whilst she was still a toddler.

It's no good at all to bang on about "will power". She's never, ever known normal eating habits - it's either been excessive or the opposite. This is not someone who once was a normal weight, got "a bit depressed" when their cat died, and comfort-ate their way to 60 stone.

This is incredibly harsh, but what she really, really needs is for her feeder of a mother to drop dead, and then she might have a chance of living a normal life.
yes
yes

The bit about the mum getting the fish and chips in her first night home from 'fat camp' says it all.

She's got no bloody chance with a parent like that around. Every time she tries to climb out of the pit, dear old mum's right there to push her back in.

I do note on the Mail story that there's no source (at all) for the 63st figure, that literally is someone's guess. Not TBH it's all that much better if she's actually 40st but still - pathetic sensationalist reporting fantasising.

Dead within the first 20 minutes.

There's no way someone that big can walk continuously for more than a few yards. She might not even be able to stand up in her current state.

She needs hospital, special kit to even get her up on her feet in the first place, and then lots and lots and LOTS of very gentle and careful exercise, building up gradually as she gets stronger and slimmer.

Am i really the only one who feels uncomfortable with the article, the girl is possibly seriously ill and she is being riddiculed by the press? There are plenty of people in the country who get more financial support than others there seems little point in getting worked up about it. There are probably many reasons why she is as big as she is, parents are probably at least 50% to blame, I just dont see how it is acceptable to take photos of her in the ambulance.

The Daily Mail is the very definition of "gutter press".

If you were to ask the editor why he ran this story, he'd probably come back with a "public interest" justification so mealy-mouthed that you'd do well to resist bouncing his face off the pavement.

Well then for 5 mins at first, and then building the time.

Obviously i'm being (only slightly) flippant. The essence of her being forced to do exercise is the message. By whatever means. The fact that she lost so much weight in the first place, only to pile it back on leaves me feeling sad for her.

yes

Am reminded powerfully of some of the disabled people's movements' submissions to the Leveson inquiry about press intrusion and the kind of things that are said and stories run under the banner of 'public interest'.

It's as if your body's not your own - whether it's cos you're trans, dying of cancer, disabled through morbid obesity, the parent of a young disabled kid - whatever - it's like your entire life is regarded as public property.

What happened with that poor little trans 5 year old is a case in point (and was discussed in person at Leveson by a campaign group).

It is truely saddening that we share the country with enough cretins who want to read this kind of story that the paper continues to print drivel.
After a quick look on todays Sun homepage;

"Medics smash house to save 63 stone teen"

"Kate Moss goes out with her flys undone"

"meet Zach who tried to eat absaloutely everything"

"David Beckham now has pink football boots"

"The sun is out...and so is imogen thomas who strips for champagne picnic"

"JedWard twins rescue Eurovision"

Really?!

Presumably being a fatty would mean swimming is a good idea?

Although having written that I feel the urge to post the 'Harpoons; man them!' Unmotivational poster.
