You could see as she was going to the edge how loose the straps were. Very shoddy indeed. How come she had no suit on, and just normal everyday clothes on?

She must be a tough 'ol bird though as I think my heart would have given out and/or my sphincter.

TBH going like that at 80 is better than suffering through a year of chemo etc.

How did he manage to get her down safely, she was all over the place before they left the plane, lucky, lucky woman.

fk me

These clowns should be shut down.

No I'm not a sky diving expert but you can clearly see the strap is around the top of her arm not over her shoulder. Why didn't the camera man notice?

Who checked to see if it was tight? shouldn't that be standard procedure.

Also is it normal to force somebody out of a plane when she has quite clearly changed her mind?

She's 80 FFS were they trying to give her a heart attack.

He didn't seem arsed that she wasn't at all happy. Out you go!

You could even see that she didn't want to go as he basically had to prise her hands off the door frame. A sensible instructor would surely have not forced the issue.

I can see this incident costing them a hell of a lot of money.

Yep and I bet her lawyer says she didnt want to go because she noticed the straps were loose.

And you know what I hope he does. She was nearly splattered and that could have been anybody.

For those of us not brave enough to click that link on a work pc can someone summarise? Old dear strapped (loosely) to an instructor doesn't want to jump out of a plane - but is pushed? She landed (safely) in the end with the aid of gravity and the instructor?

You have it but it's the heart stopping moment when she appears to be dangling by a thread and upside down whilst the cameraman tries to help.

Can't find any proper news story on this as it is strange that the cameraman's footage is out on the web when it is the evidence that implicates the instructor and the sky diving school.

Pretty sure I saw James Bond "catch up" with another skydiver, smack him about a bit, nick the parachute and put it onto his own back before pulling the cord.

In all seriousness, if someone "slipped off" could they realistically be either held onto (tricky at the point of canopy release) or restrapped in mid fall? I guess that would be easier if the "dropped" party was compliant and experienced (see drowning men fighting their lifesavers for examples of the helpless making matters worse)

Pretty much. she is forced out the door by folding her arms in. seconds later she is falling ass first through the sky held in by arms and keeping her legs bent. The camera man does his best to get involved and keep her legs bent to keep her in. Especially bad as she would have hardly been all that strong. Unbelivably bad video.

Why the f**k did he deploy the cute when she was in that position!?

(let's ignore the going out the plane bit for now as she might have said on the ground that no matter what she wanted to exit - I had that on one of my lifts, the lady gave express instructions that she might not get out the door so she wanted "help")

The reason he forced her is that it would probably mess up the order for the other people if the first person didn;t jump and was blocking them in. But you would think they would have planned for that.
