how can a country like that be allowed to join the EU and the Euro? Croatia is next. They'll just let anyone join. No wonder we're all in the st.

Dont mention that name around Dubrovnik, its highly likely it will get you lamped.
He ordered the shelling of the city from the heights. They really really really *really* do not like the guy.
Indeed. Puzzling choice of war criminal to cosy up to when he was on the Serbian side. But he did go with local nationalism in the end, and handed the EU a bite sized province. You'd almost think they had no principles at all sometimes. He ordered the shelling of the city from the heights. They really really really *really* do not like the guy.

An audit by accountants Price Waterhouse, carried out in 2010, raised questions about the running of the country's Prva Banka, or "First Bank", which is controlled by the Djukanovic family. The audit suggests that most of the money deposited at the bank came from public funds, while two thirds of the loans it made went to the Djukanovics and their close associates.

It's never stopped them before...It is the beginning of a manufactured end.
They will introduce as many financially unstable countries to the Euro as possible, creating a catastrophic failure in the near future. Once this is complete and the global economy is on the brink of collapse, Hitler (or some other such type person) will rise from the dead and lead the Greeks to a glorious future as leaders of the common market.
Or something.

How will they benefit the EU if they were to join?
This is the crux of the matter.I assume by providing cheap labour in the established EU countries.
The tin pot economy joins the EU. Instantly they get to borrow money from the EU at new vhastly reduced rates which allows them to go on a huge spending spree. The local people become more wealthy and use the money that trickles down to go out and buy goods from the EU. At the same time property prices boom and people start spending this money as well.
It can't possibly fail.
