He is appealing, all the way up to the Supreme Court if need be. USA also say that they will send him to Aus if they convict.

Nice retro touch, the Aus incarceration.

It's a case of a country protecting their information and security. They have to demonstrate also that they pursue those in the future who may be tempted to steel/divulge information again.

What did he expect would happen? They'd forgive him?

If he did that to the UK I'd want the strongest possible punishment.

Haven't you heard? He's a "Putin stooge" - same as everyone else who doesn't want WW3.

Big boy's games, big boy's rules. Don't be suprised if the law comes after you when you publish state secrets.

A government can easily find 2 people to make a complaint if needed. I don’t particularly feel the need to defend him but it’s pretty obviously a ruse to get him sent to America which is the ultimate aim.
Almost there.

Having been deeply imbedded in a rape case involving 3 seperate trials in Scandinavia I can assure you that their justice system is incredibly male-centric and prosecuting sex crimes is almost impossible due to lack of motivation or will. The odds are stacked firmly against women, and children. That's partly why I was very suspicious of the Assange case in Sweden given that the extent of the 'rape' act was him removing a condom during consensual sex and later refusing to be STD tested. The victims being persuaded to pursue the complaint.
Nearly a year later and this post still makes my blood run cold. If a woman asks you to wear a condom before entering her and you don’t, or you remove it before ejaculating inside her, then it’s not a simple breach of sexual etiquette as you suggest. A woman telling you that she doesn’t want your semen inside her isn’t generally intended as the commencement of a negotiation. Your attitude is ice cold and frankly chilling.

His fear has kept him inside longer than if he had just faced the music.

Extradtion approved.

Why does every single one of Our Priti's decisions make my fking skin crawl? Surely some higher power should've reclaimed her to make the universe a better place?

I wonder how many human rights lawyers/supporters will step in to stop this like the Rwanda flight?

Ideally all of them.

I'm not a Julian fan but this whole thing has been gross.
