Nope, it's chips and pies and pizza and coke and cake ...
And why do you imagine they over-consume those items?swerni said:

if it matters, eat less. My generation provides a service, we help keep people thin. Are you a chubby chaser by any chance?
I don't think fat people deserve the same protection from the law as those who are born into a race, sex, sexuality or follow a particular religion.
If there were a state cost of dealing with overweight people, I think it should be in funded or part funded exercise sessions for people beyond a certain BMI. What it costs directly we should gain indirectly in less NHS resources being devoured by chubby related ailments.

Not really, no. I put about three stone on in my early thirties when I quit smoking and struggled to shift it. I've got rid of it over the last year, through diet and exercise. At twelve and a half stone, I could probably do with losing another stone or so, but I'm not really a porker.
I'm still wavering about whether you are trolling or really do have such a lack of empathy for others, though. Could be that you're on the autistic spectrum, could be that you have some kind of personality disorder, could be that you're just a bit of a dick.

I do hope you're not about to insult a random stranger because they may or may not have a personality disorder. You want to be careful with that petard, you'll have some fkers eye out.I'm still wavering about whether you are trolling or really do have such a lack of empathy for others, though. FTR, my generation thought Joey Deacon was fair game...

BMI is useless, it needs to be body fat %age. And one for men, one for women at that.If there were a state cost of dealing with overweight people, I think it should be in funded or part funded exercise sessions for people beyond a certain BMI. I wouldn't go so far as to say useless, given that BMI and % body fat are closely correlated. Needs to be used advisedly in the case of people with abnormally high muscle mass, but not a bad measure for basic screening. As a colleague of mine observed during a conversation about whether you call call someone fat "It's not as if they can't do something about it."
Seems an important point to me-it's unfair to have a go at soemthing you can't control but being overweight is simply energy in-energy out imbalance.

Yeah but if you're that far anyway (screening), it doesnt take long to get a body fat number either.
True - but it should be pretty obvious just looking at someone whether they have a BMI of 35 because they are massively muscular or because they are fat. I think there are a lot of people kidding themselves about their BMI and how "powerfully built" they are, if you know what I mean. otolith said:

BMI is an exceptinoally broad brush.A superb example is myself and a colleague. He's the same height as me, but about 10kgs lighter - so who's fitter? Well if it's measured by bench press, then him, by a ridiculously high margin, but if it's stamina related - running or cycling - I'd win hands-down. No idea.
To look at us, you'd swear [i[he[/i] had to be heavier, not because he's fat - if anything I look marginally 'lardier' - but just bigger.
