thinking about this purely from an aeronautical engineering perspective

.. surely it needs a 5th propellor to provide forward motion [prop shaft up it's arse ? ]

Increased thrust on individual props tilts the "fuselage" one way or another and that causes non vertical thrust vectors to appear.
