They have screwed me over and stole far more of my life then their "meatballs" could ever make up for. It is now the only shop that my wife knows not to bother asking if I will take her there......ever.
When we visit our children go in the play area - limited to one hour at weekend. It's very funny watching Mrs Puggit try to shop in an hour!

Exactly. Things would be much easier if we could just shoot minorities.

Good point! What about a guard tower with snipers?
That's genocide, surely?
You say that, like it would be a bad thing.confused

Why was the 27 year old Mr Massey 'disgusted'?

He was asked a simple question. He answered 'no' and was allowed to go in and park.

I know - I'm a racist.......
Given how er, flexible, the definition of 'racist' is nowadays, i think we all are.

By physical barrier, I mean one of those metal outline frames that sets the maximum size with which a vehicle will fit through, not up/down barriers controlling all access.
Like the ones that B&Q in Eatford had before they were dismantled by some chaps with a caravan who moved in for 4 months killing off their business.

I think a human presence is essential.

I wonder if this guard had a test for the type of person he was looking for which entailed goading people into an aggressive verbal response? As such it looks like these people failed smile

There were "travellers" living in the car park in Ikea Croydon so this isn't just something that they're paranoid about for no reason. It's to stop it happening again.

Why did this customer need a camper van to get from Streatham to Croydon, did he camp out at Norwood on the way hehe

Is 'bloke driving a campervan' a race?

I think they should have people actually living in the shop - it's got everything you need, lots of bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, home offices etc. Seems a waste, really.

Security on retail parks is hardly anything new - find me a retail park in the land without it - so the 'issue' here seems to be the 'profiling' but if they have problems they have to do something. Clamping will be illegal from October onwards on private land so they wont be able to use a parking enforcement company to seize their motorhomes or anything, so surely their only option is to stop them getting in in the first place?

Would there have been a story if this chap hadn't been so 'outraged'? (accepting there may be sexing up of this story). Wonder if Mr. Massey would have any issue with DAYLs moving in near him.

No, but I happened to 'correct' a small group of gypsys recently over that matter.
They claimed they were a 'race' and the fact that none of the bars in town would let them in was 'racist'.

I informed then that they "weren't a race" and they went fking mental and said "well what the fk are we then if we aren't a race".

Lovely.

I don't know why anybody is outraged because the dirty secret is practically every business park or any company with a bit of land has either security patrols or something else to stop Gypsies getting on. Where I work has had little barriers put up which you can't get caravans over, for example.

The only difference here is the guard has actually bluntly said 'are you a gypsy.'

I actually tried to calm the situation slightly by informing them that legally they are classed as an 'ethnic group'.

This was met with things along the lines of "see, we told you it was racist to not let us in bars for no reason", and they then went on to shout about how much they were getting "discrimated against for no reason".

At this point I left the debate and let the door staff argue it out as it was quite threatening.

I am struggling to imagine a gypsy caravan furnished by Ikea. The 'Mcdonagh' range perhaps.

Sounds like there is a reason they're not let into the bar - they're s.
