It's weird how we view sanctions on someone else as no big deal, but when the other way, it is arms in the air time! hehe

Correct in at least two contexts I think. Interesting times (again frown)

The GCC wouldn't stand it for a minute, let alone their allies.

Iran is, has been, and will be full of hot air for plenty of time to come.

Probably simply feel that between the tax and the banks the little man over there feels a bit left out of the media.

There's an clear inverse relationship between current global media coverage and likelihood of making an utterly stupid public statement over there.

Obviously, those running Iran don't seem to care what they think.

That is not an embargo, that is someone closing an international shipping channel.

Actually for ships coming and going many places, not just certain ones.

I view the modern meaning of an embargo as the goods/arms/oil not even being loaded up on the transport to go to the country in question.

Spot on; closing an international highway is not; that just invites trouble in general.

Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has drafted a bill calling for Iran to try to stop oil tankers from shipping crude through the Strait of Hormuz to countries that support sanctions against it.

"There is a bill prepared in the National Security and Foreign Policy committee of Parliament that stresses the blocking of oil tanker traffic carrying oil to countries that have sanctioned Iran," Iranian MP Ibrahim Agha-Mohammadi was quoted by Iran's parliamentary news agency as saying on Monday.
Sounds quite specific.

Are you being serious? If they wish to halt oil to Europe, don't sell it to European nations or load it on their tankers. Closing an international waterway is an act of war, not sanctions.
There are other nations that sell oil and use the Strait.
