Or, being able to make a personal choice without the wringing of hands is actually a basic right & now you have created an environment where it's illegal for anyone to prefer anything because dat racist, or homophobic, or sexist, or sizeist, or ageist, or travelling person who doesn't do much travelling-ist, or something.

Someone from Bangladesh (or Poland, or Australia or Newcastle for that matter) looking to live with people of a similar background is worlds apart from saying "I have a house that I won't rent to black people" in my view.Can you not see the irony in your statement above?
One implies a disdain for a group of people based on their race, the other implies a wish to share your home with someone of a similar background to your own.

It's interesting that ALL of the adverts cited are specifying that being a member of a particular ethnic minority is a requirement, and this practice is long-standing. As the article says, there are no adverts saying "Whites Only" as they would very briskly have caused complaints.
