Mmmm, I expect this to be responsible for a sudden outbrake of imploding liberal syndrome

Who knew eh?

BBC said:
Goodhart argues that stating any racial preference on a public notice is unacceptable. "There are certain anti-discrimination absolutes. Colour-blind liberalism has got to cut both ways. Otherwise it's a gift to those who feel totally disaffected by how multiculturalism is being managed."

Or, being able to make a personal choice without the wringing of hands is actually a basic right & now you have created an environment where it's illegal for anyone to prefer anything because dat racist, or homophobic, or sexist, or sizeist, or ageist, or travelling person who doesn't do much travelling-ist, or something.

Arse well & truly bitten.

Are you saying you should be able to state a racial preference?

Maybe it's the early hour but I'm not quite getting the gist of your post there. Are you saying its ok to discriminate based on the colour of a persons skin?

This whole thing has gone too far. Say I had a thing for ladies with dark skin, is that racist?

I am.

Why not? People obviously want to choose this and a line in an advert can save hours of unnecessary trapsing around only to be told that it's already taken, or "we'll get back to you."

Maybe the law had a purpose in the 1960s when landlords routinely put "no blacks" on adverts simply because they didn't like black people. However those days are gone, and so should the laws be.

But what other reason other than "they didn't like black people" would you have for advertising in this way?

Errrr, no.

However if you were interviewing candidates for a job, or indeed choosing who you wish to perform a business transaction with then yes. For blindingly obvious reasons.

Things may have moved on, but stating a preference in race (where it has no relevance) is racist.

No, because it a factor in your choice, no different to casting a black actor in a black role, or a woman in a female role.

I prefer to sleep with women rather than men, it doesn't make me homophobic.

Your post clearly shows that things haven't moved on enough.

Can you not see the irony in your statement above?

Someone from Bangladesh (or Poland, or Australia or Newcastle for that matter) looking to live with people of a similar background is worlds apart from saying "I have a house that I won't rent to black people" in my view.

One implies a disdain for a group of people based on their race, the other implies a wish to share your home with someone of a similar background to your own.

So 'White anglo-saxon protestant british professionals only' would be OK on an ad then ?

..no disdain at all for others, just want similar people ...

In my book, yes. It's quite prescriptive, but if that's what someone is looking for why not?

It's interesting that ALL of the adverts cited are specifying that being a member of a particular ethnic minority is a requirement, and this practice is long-standing. As the article says, there are no adverts saying "Whites Only" as they would very briskly have caused complaints.

Racism against our indigenous population doesn't exist, but we have known that for some time.

This is true, it's about time all the hypocritical hand wringing morons had the courage of their convictions to attack ALL racism.

You really don't seem to have grasped the concept. Are you from Israel? Or Iran?

No that's fine

Its only racist to say you don't find dark skin attractive.
