Thought a thread on this would be up and running... can't see one.
Latest is they now have name for suspect (on the run).

Very sad news. My local TV news mentioned it at 6 o'clock this evening but, was no mention of the chap being a cop. Condolences to friends and family.

Quick, get all the experts from SP&L to ring Essex Police to tell them where he's hiding and how they ought to find him!

No, it's not Dibble. Though there are other members with the same name.

Sounds like the guy was driven nuts by a bad neighbour, and shot himself by his wife's grave, tragic all round.

So how come our strict gun laws didn't weed this one out. Depressed loner was a member of a gun club and had threatened to kill before.

I was spitting feathers listening to Cameron's bit of insincerity at the end of he No10 press conf this lunchtime.

Politically he had to pay tribute to PC Dibell and give condolences to the family and colleagues, and the only reason he did it and said what he did is for political reasons, particularly what he said about the police service in general, but considering in a wider context what he is doing and what is going on, the man is so insincere and two faced would be quite quite happy to wreck his career. Scum.

If we're going to start that debate again I think we can just cut and paste the fifty page threads between the pro and anti-gun lobbies that run after these sad events. It'd be less effort all round.

Tragic story. Again.

ETA - in response to Croyde.

Whether you support what the Coaltion are doing or not, I dont think you can be stupid enough to believe CMD wanted to see a member of the Police force get shot!

There is no money in the pot...simple as, so if your issue is down to the cuts...pray tell where you expect the monies to come from??

Yep! I agree. Just pointing out the similarity (if true) of the circumstances between this guy and that piece of filth that killed the kiddies in Dunblane. I'm a grown man but I cry every time that nasty bit of history is on the news, which it was in the States last weekend as Andy Murray is from Dunblane.

ETA I was not advocating a pro or anti gun law debate anyway just that it would be nice if someone had upheld the current law and had stopped a depressed person who had threatened to kill before from having access to weapons.

If they had that poor officer would be alive.

Talk about missing the point!!! It's not about money, though CMD is using the money as an excuse to get vindictive pay back. The point was about him speaking with forked tongue.

I don't think Cameron or May give a st about any police officer.
They'd probably cross the road to avoid them if they could.
