Ozzie - I don't know what job you do but you don't have the beginnings of an idea about how markets work.
Lockhart - guess you got your qualifications from the Dany Bahar school of marketing.
Markets, not marketing. Oh I give up. Well done Ozzie, you're absolutely correct in everything you've ever said. Have a biscuit.
Now sit and eat it in the corner and don't disturb the other children.

laugh

What is it with all the halfwit, chippy socialists on here these days, I suppose recent sociology graduates have to go somewhere to pass the day.

It would be nice if once in a while one of them actually joined in with some half-thought out argument though, all these silly little one liners don't half clutter up the grown ups' conversations.

Based upon his lack of knowledge, lack of logic and childish manner . . . giving him the benefit of the doubt, I'd guess at about 14 tops.

Classic PH thread where all the usual free-market capitalist heroes suddenly want full protectionist measures for anything that relates to their lovely rose-tinted British traditions.
Replace my bold with national food security and read it back to yourself.

That is what we're potentially discussing.

How's that sound now?
Pity past Governments and present are not putting so much effort into National Energy Needs. Now that is a proper concern to us all.

Absolutely. To my mind coal is the big conundrum. It's still down there. OK, it's got rather more sulphur in it than is fashionable. But one day....

Long lead time though.

Help. I agree with Ozzie and Cranky! laugh

The way we quite happily give up energy and food security in this country is a real worry to me.

Plenty of coal, and natural gas if you accept the need for fracking, which seems quite popular in some circles - the US is back to 1998 levels or carbons if that's your bag. Whatever stance one takes on climate change, it's hard to dismiss the numbers, and thus far (no indication of future safety, I admit) nothing much has come of the claims that it'll cause earthquakes, towns to disappear into holes or famine and pestilence to stalk the land.

cheers,

Spider Boy
