It seems Mr Personality is to be rewarded and will become a global education envoy to the UN secretary-general.

WTFyikes

What educational interest has he ever had ? All his ministerial life was spent in the treasury.

Jobs for the boys ?

Still, at least as its UN, he'll not be making a nuisance of himself here.

Oh I have no doubt he'll get himself apointed to all sorts of Quangos, so he'll be popping up all over the place to carry on irritating us.

We can but hope it means he'll be getting the education.

Well in fairness, there is an education link; he was a Lecturer & a tutor in an earlier life, (after having achieved a first-class honours degree & subsequent PhD,& was Rector at Edinburgh Uni while there).
Still very tenuous though.

Do people object to gubermint ministers/PMs taking on such jobs or is this just a spite/hate thread?

Bit harsh on a fellow PhD'er?!

Education is overrated. The greater the depth of one’s knowledge, the more bewildering is its application.

ISWYM but I was referring to real world education, as opposed to swallowing Mr Balls' interpretation of post neo-classical endogenous growth theory smile

They might like to send him along to accompany educators working in one of several fragile States.

The farther away the better IMO.

Then we just need a rogue falling piano and karmic balance can be restored...

Personaly for me no, but there judging from most of them and the mess they left behind (useless 3rd rate tossers)
they should go and hide under a stone never to be seen or heard from again, Not given nice little sinecures.....

I was of the impression that he had been consigned to some nuthouse in Embra.

'Aff his heed' was the official diagnosis, as I recall.

I couldn't recommend highly enough a competent former minister going on to such jobs.

The work Peter Mandelson has done with the WTO as European Commissioner is unlikely to be bettered by anyone.

Gordon Brown on the other hand has been entirely self serving, never listened to others as he knew best. That is not the role for someone on this level.

This thread is a bit of a larf considering we are enduring the most incompetent ever UK gubermint who will all go on to high flying careers. Remember, when the banking crisis arrived, Cameron et al sat totally silent, zero response, no idea, daft, millions in the bank, waiting to fk up.

Christ, such stupid hatred. Take up politics if you feel so strongly, but don't condemn those who put themselves forward when you stand at the back and shout obscenities.
