I'm not a big Festival fan either but I can't fathom why if the crowd wants more and the band wants more, people can't just turn a blind eye.
I can.

Greatest ROCK speach in history!!!!!

Skid Row, London, Wembley Stadium, 1991.

Sebastian Bach (previous front man of rock band Skid Row) made a little speach at Wembley stadium while perfroming with Skid Row, that I thought you should all READ!! Over to you Bach!

Now listen man. We?re gonna do something right now. There?s a, little thing that I feel like it?s my duty to tell you this st here in London okay. You know that there?s a council, here in your town, who tries to tell, rock bands, what they can, and cannot do on stage, did you know that.

Now we received a letter here. I thought we were fkin rusher or something man, I?m gonna read this to you, do you wanna here it? (crowd yells ?yeah?) It says right here ?You?ll be aware that there is great concern being shown by the ?council? that there may be abusive language used during the Skid Row show at Wembley.? It goes on to say here ? we have great concern regarding the performance of Guns ?n? Roses and Skid Row and the press reporting of shows in America! alright.

And it says here, wait a minute, who the fk is this council anyways dyo people know?
This is the best part right here, I really love this part it says ?The song ?Get the fk Out? cannot be included in the set unless the words are altered mother fker.

Now, and it says here, hang on it says here, that they?re gonna stop the show because they don?t like the word fk! And you?re not allowed to here it.

Now the way I see it!! The way I fkin see it!! Is that each one of you people paid a bunch of fkin money to see a rock ?n? roll show is that right? (crowd yells ?yeah?).

So, we wouldn?t wanna offend anybody, but I just think that its time to say to these people, Get the fk Out man! (crowd screams)

WHAT DYO WANNA SAY!? (crowd ?GET THE fk OUT!!?)
WHAT!!? (crowd ?GET THE fk OUT!!?)
WHAT!!!? (crowd ?GET THE fk OUT!!?)
ONE, TWO THREE (plays song ?Get the fk Out?)

Well said Bach!!!

Maybe they'll have a better night in Dublin-I don't think London is really the right place for rock concerts.
I think you've hit the nail on the head.

More and more the UK, especially England, is apparently becoming a population that needs the reassurance and comfort of mind numbing petty regulation. Very sad.
This is a good opportunity for some of O.O.'s Strawman stuff, so-

Do you think it is sad that in this country they enforce regulations which prevent people driving along certain streets in whichever direction they choose? Perhaps it's sad that restaurants have to concentrate on hygeine instead of flavour? I'm sure you feel it's sad that in this country people aren't allowed to ppark in bus lanes if they are only going to be there for a few minutes?
Well, I wouldn't call the first WTO examples petty, necessarily but the third exemplifies my point. Thank you.

Good to see the world's greatest exponent of "regular ordinary unexciting bluesy rock" has a sense of humour:

Fair point.
The rules/laws are not there to stop people having fun though are they? they are usually there to protect people from noise or safety/transport issues. Therefore there has to be a balance.

I am sure Westminster CC doesnt care about a gig going on til am in Manchester as they are not the ones given the duty to ensure the rules are followed there.

A festival in the arse end of nowhere is one thing. One next to residential areas is quite another.

Why take him off for playing over the curfew but then allow the firework display to proceed?

Methinks you miss the point.

I said that this Country is becoming too dependant on petty regulation. That is not saying that there should be no regulation.

You then try to argue against my point by using two out of three examples that are clearly irrelevant to the argument and one that supports it.

There seem to be a lot of posters on here who read what they think they see, not what is actually posted.

I've grasped your point, but, it is clearly fallacious. The problem with your point is that it is up to you, apparently, to decide what is or is not petty and irrelevant . Now, if you were in charge of things that would be quite ok, but you are not. The people who are in charge have to balance the needs of one section of society with those of another. This will frequently lead to people like yourself getting upset over rules that you personally disagree with. As we can see on this thread, you are not alone.
