What surprised me was just how little he was being paid by the BBC - and how he doesn't appear to have had much else on, work-wise, when he wasn't doing BBC work.
He didn't actually do much on the show though, so it's quite a lot for 2 mins on camera and a few one-liners. Eric Mc said:
Interesting article in The Telegraph.
It seems that, in real life, he was a Private Detective.
He also failed to turn up in court for his sentencing - and there is now a warrant out for his arrest.
I wonder has he legged it back to Portugal?

That article is quite old. Think he handed himself in to police shortly after the story broke. It seems that, in real life, he was a Private Detective.

That was his brother .
Both very subtle comments, I know. Sorry!
David Suchet is Poirot and his brother is John Suchet (latter respected novelist and broadcaster). Both very subtle comments, I know. Sorry!
John's book "My Bonnie" is a riveting and terribly tragic true story of how is wife developed dementia.
Alastair Stewart OBE (!) has been convicted of drink driving on two occasions, despite presenting "Police Camera Action". He is a Patron of the charity Kids for Kids, helping children in Darfur, Sudan
