I think what xr287 is trying to say was that having this kind of money gives you endless possibilities.

Yes, they gave money to charity, but they also squandered their very fortunate lives on drugs and alcohol. That's what makes them a waste of space.

There are plenty of people with less money who also give to charity but don't leave their dead wife to rot in a crack den. I don't know where he left his moral compass when he decided that was a good idea.
The tragic nature of addiction. If you had asked either of them if they wanted their dependency on drugs and alcohol to be removed they would have jumped at the chance, I'm sure.

This case indicates that money cannot buy escape escape from addiction and the sadness it can bring.

Have you ever tried to open an old-style milk carton when drunk? Then you'll understand.

Well by that logic anyone that bought a product with Tetrapak packaging is responsible for this as well.

The statement from his father-in-law is extremely generous, especially bearing in mind the circumstances of her death.
Like all statements about the dead, they paint them in a favourable light. He's hardly going to say good riddance to the crack we who was my daughter.
I did wonder if they might feel a sense of relief, but they go as far as to refer to their son-in-law as their 'son'.

I read she had an affair a few years ago with someone who then went on to embezzle alot of money from her. Hans apparently forgave her.

They also have 4 kids set to inherit £4.5 billion so its probably worth remaining amicable with the in-laws.

Not sure I follow that reasoning? Unlikely her father will benefit and anyway he's described as "wealthy" in his own right

Whatever, they were a pretty screwed up couple.

He clearly doesn't understand the concept of 'trickle down' economics (as applied to bankers etc).

She was found in a bin bag sealed with gaffer tape - a tad unusual way to treat your other half after death.

I'll be gobsmacked if the representation he can buy doesn't get him off completely.

Anyway, what purpose would be served by jailing him? Just costs us money, unless he could be billed for his board and lodging.

Judge "There's no point asking him to surrender his passport as he's wealthy enough he could probably leave the country some other way".

Oh well, in that case why not just let him off the hook whilst you're at it.

Alexander Cameron QC, the older brother of Prime Minister David Cameron, represented Rausing in court.

The body of the millionairess was found at their home in bin bags sealed up with gaffer tape, West London Magistrates' Court has been told.

The court heard that Mrs Rausing's remains were discovered beside a bed, covered in layers of clothes in an annexe of the couple's Belgravia mansion in the capital.

The bedroom where her body was found had also been sealed with gaffer tape, the court was told.

There has been no cause of death established yet. I wouldn't be surprised if more charges didn't follow depending on what that turns out to be.

Why?
It will depend on things like toxicology. Results often take a good while to obtain. The decomposition of the body will not have helped.

there is somewhere between 10-15% of the current prison popluation on remand, who you would also consider to be in need of help if you follow.?

I am sure that a top lawyer would be able to keep one out of prison in a case like this. That is, after all, what they are paid for.

I seemed to recall he was in hospital before and after the court appearence hence no police van. Any court case will be a waste of time as the guy is clearly so ill from his addiction he will be judged mentally unable to plead in due course. It is tragic that some people who have everything actually have nothing in truth. I hope their children learn by this tragedy. Anyone addicted from what ever background have issues we can only try to imagine the horror of it
