You're still missing my point.

I bet you believe many figures presented to you every day without asking to see all the data behind them, yet you dismiss these ones out of hand as it suits your ideology. You don't know what access these people have had, there may be a way of arriving at the figures by averages.
If the news tells you that inflation is up, do you dismiss it because they haven't shown you all the research behind it?
I completely get your point, but you are being obtuse.

And I haven't said anything about my ideology. Just because I do not trust the report, you have interpreted that to mean I have chosen my position because it suits my ideology. Not true. I have never stated my position one way or the other ( I don't really care in truth ) but having worked with "research organisations" in the past I think I can smell bullst when it comes along. And the opportune timing of this so-called research and the lack of any explanation for the unexplainable, smells of bullst to me.

The fact remains that it is absolutely, 100%, cast iron impossible to break down and attribute the purpose, nature and ownership of overseas assets in fiduciary or administrative custody. The CIA can't achieve it ( they would love to know who has what ) so I am quite sure that a bunch of agenda-driven, attention seeking-for-the-next-pay-cheque "research" wonks can't achieve it either.

And your argument is totally spurious, your examples woefully irrelevant. The calculation of inflation can be relied upon because there are hundreds and hundreds of data points and WE ALL KNOW WHAT THEY ARE ! This is precisely the opposite of this research, where there are NO meaningful data points, because it is impossible to get any.

And as for "You don't know what access these people have had, there may be a way of arriving at the figures by averages" - that is laughable ! Access to what? Independent access to look at the books of every offshore jurisdiction? Even the companies themselves do not know the ownership of much of their assets because it is held under fiduciary services with independent trustees that are outside of their control !

And "averages"??? What are you wittering on about ??

Do you have any clue as to how finance actually works or are you being deliberately obtuse? smile

Desperate fking Dan in a suit.
Why?
Because he's unhappy with people not declaring their full income and skipping paying the tax due?
No, not at all.

Because he's a politician, which makes him a hypocrite and a chancer therefore he has no right to moralize. This is just fluff to encourage the 'downtrodden' taxpayer into foaming at the mouth and denouncing those who are perceived to be 'tax dodgers'. Apart from the rich Tory party donors of course, don't st on your own doorstep, eh? thumbup

He's still a wker, though.

Would you decry his "moralising" if the target of his complaint was "dole scroungers" or "benefit cheats"?

Off-hand I can only think of 3 people on this planet that can moralise... The Dalai Lama, The Pope and The incumbent in Canterbury.

Politicians should avoid pronouncing on what is and what isn't moral, their domain is what is right or wrong.

If they start moralising then there should be a by-election called, because there would be a serious doubt cast on his/her sanity.

Yes I heard they've got some used Philips speakers on their watch list but they can't stretch to more than £25.

Bloody hell, I can't begin to think how you could get that much cash into the bank system without it attracting attention. At least not without spending a lot of time doing it.
No problem there, ask HSBC , have an ISA for very occasion, including laundering Colombian drug money, merely tax dodging is small beer to them.

This sort of thing has been going on for years. All those "shop your neighbours for benefit fraud/ drink driving/ domestic violence/ whatever" hotlines than have sprung up.

It raises an interesting moral question. Where do you draw the line when you think that somebody else is doing something illegal?

Hoe about standing by the side of a road and take videos of cars travelling over the speed limit, and taking pics of people using a mobile phone whilst driving.

Didn't think this was still running..

Download your Climate Crime Cards and make a written Crime report..

"Report back to your family to make sure they don't commit those crimes again (or else)!”

"What about the homes of aunts and uncles, or friends from school?"
