I would, but I'd withdraw at the right moment out of respect.

...and the headlines with the next round of Knighthoods will be:

"Congratulations to Danny Boyle for his impersonation of the Queen in the opening ceremony of the Olympics."

She's not some vacuous celebrity endorsing cheap crap for the masses. She can smile when she wants as far as I'm concerned.

I am amazed at what she goes through. I hope I can do half as much at her age.

I thought the opening ceremony was fantastic, and now I am looking forward to a great Olympics.

The only downer - shouldn't somebody have told the Queen to smile, just for a couple of seconds while she was on camera? She looked miserable as sin. If she's so fed up with being the monarch at such a special event, maybe it's time to handover to the next generation.
This is Pistonheads. There are three things you can't criticise on here; The Conservative Party, The Royal Family and Public Schools. laugh

She can laugh in public, but it might have to be at a racecourse ! This from this years Derby, on day one of the Jubilee weekend.

It is unfortunate that her default expression makes her look glum.

There was a smile and a glint in the eye, following an exchange or words with Prince Charles as she passed him on her way into the royal box last night.

At her age I'm not surprised she wasn't smiling being up that late. My grandfather is the same age and he's a miserable tt most of the time too.

Anyway, this made me laugh

The thing is, I am a fan of the royals. I just wish she would present a little more positivity. It was the same at the jubilee concert IIRC.

If you heard Cheryl Cole trying to sing you probably would look miffed as well.

You try sitting there smiling constantly for four hours at the age of 86 and see how you like it.

It is a lot to expect of someone of that age - time to pass on the baton?

Only if we can make Charles conveniently disappear.

I reckon her expression was pretty typical for an older person who normally wears specs, but on that occasion wasn't. It's a squint more than a scowl.

I certainly think that she and the Duke should no longer be expected to be the hardest working Royals. Charles and Camilla and, Particularly, the Cambridges should be picking up a great deal more. Its al very well to say that he wants to 'lead a normal life' but he's 30 now. When the Queen was his age, she'd been on the throne for 5 years

The problem there is the public like the Queen. They don't like Charles and Horseface. Really it should just skip them entirely and go straight to William and Kate because people like them.
