Maeve Binchy - RIP
Discussion
Although probably not the author of choice for a hardened PHers, it is sad to learn that one of the most successful of modern Irish writer, has died.
I read a couple of her books and they did reflect a certain type of Irish lifestyle, especially that of the middle class suburbs of South Dublin - as epitomised in her book of short stories, "Dublin 4".
She had quite a sharp sense of humour. In the mid 1980s, she described the flood of young Irish professionals and graduates who moved to Britain as "Nipples" i.e. New Irish people Living in England.
