I always thought he'd be deputy to Hague, but I am starting to think it may very well be the other way round.

To see 60,000 people chanting "Boris, Boris" was very heartening.

I hope this happens. It'll be hilarious.
It'll put the "Great" back in Great Britain and consign Labour to the dustbin.

Interesting article in The Independent today. Boils down to Boris can't be tory leader until he's a an MP. But he can't become an MP because to do so would be to declare his intention to go for the leader's job, which would effectively scupper his chances.

Looks like he shot himself in the foot going for the Mayor's job.

The funny thing about that picture is he didn't actually know what was happening.

I kinda agree. He seems keen on getting the job done, and doesn't seem to give much of a crap what anyone thinks about him while he's doing it.
And I think this is why the left try so hard to ridicule him. I hate Cameron, but like Boris. He just seems more honest.

I don't think so. Boris is in an excellent position of being popular which is unique amongst Conservative's these days. Part of the reason for that has to be the fact he's not an MP and is not in the Government, he has criticised the Government and deviated from the party line whenever he's seen fit because Cameron can't do anything to him.

It's easy to be popular when you're on the outside but in fairness to Boris it's not like he's in a responsibility free job, only the President of France gets more direct votes across Europe than the Mayor of London and from what I've heard he has achieved a large chunk of what he said he would as Mayor.

They were talking about Boris as Tory party leader about ten years ago when it was acknowledged that in a celebrity culture, who do the Tories have who's more recognisable than him? Anyway as far as I'm aware he didn't even stand and they went for Iain Duncan Smith instead (great move fellas.) There's no chance of him standing for PM until 2025 though, his term as Mayor runs to 2016 which takes a huge weight of Cameron's mind. If Ken had won then Cameron would start to look weak with a fully available Boris around. Boris cannot quit as Mayor before then because that'd damage his good PR, papers would be full of how he's deserted Londoners etc. He will need to lose in 2016 (if he runs again), gain a Parliamentary seat in 2020 (which shouldn't be hard for him) and then run for the leadership and consequently Prime Minister in 2025.

Looking at it now, maybe having Ken as Mayor of London right now wouldn't be such a bad thing in the long run?

Considering he was born in New York, he could be a US President.

Being PM is all to do with timing. Hague got it wrong. Boris will get it right.
