Eric Mc said: That must be the shortest lived "legacy project" of the games . It didn't even make it to the end of the Paralympics. Well, at best, this debacle will "Inspire a generation" to set out a properly robust business plan in future. In all seriousness, this is a prime example of join-the-dots, PC silliness. I can see the proposal meeting now. With heavy emphasis on promoting the Thames as London's "forgotten highway" and other such nonsense. What could possibly go wrong?

All the boats are in the basin and the gates to the pontoons are locked. No notices regarding the closure but there is a Public Notice from Tower Hamlets regarding a change of use for the 28 berths from leisure to private residential. Part of the original permission granted to water chariots was that they would have a 15 year licence to operate private hire vessels from the Basin. I suspect the boats will be removed imminently.

doh somebody took a bath on that one.
I like the idea of a canoe cafe. I would have gone there and rented a canoe with the family for a day out quite regulary.

Have just been reading a few post from This web-siteNot good at all! Emily Posted August 10, 2012 at 11:49 AM Where to start with the water chariots. They are an embarressment of a company. I know this because I have been involved with the company for the last two weeks. I was told there would be over a 1000 people walking through their doors every day; this was quite the opposite. It was dead and had no atmosphere what so ever. This however was not down to the hopspitalty staff or the caterers, it was simply to do with the poor organisation skills of the directors board. The directors of the business are incredibly unprofessional and damn right rude. They have refused to pay any hospitialy staff for their hard work, and have purposly laid people off so don’t have to pay out the money. This is definatly the worst company I have ever worked for, and I really hope they get whats coming to them after the grief they have caused me. So i would not recommend this service in slightest to anyone, and i do hope that every single one of their boats sink. Peter Hills Posted August 13, 2012 at 11:28 AM We used their service on Friday 10th August from Tottenham Hale to Victoria Gate. Only we never made the Olympic stadium – there was a barrier across the canal and we were ‘dumped’ on the towpath and told a shuttle bus would be along. No, the buses were for officials. We had a 2 mile walk to the nearest public gate! Outrageous. The whole point of using them was to get within 75 metres of the stadium and then return a night. We got home via the Javalin.

Slight tangent, but on the subject of "epic fail", anyone else been following the "London Pleasure Gardens" fiasco? Equally gripping.

There is or certainly was another company involved in this called Old Ford Lock River Services Limited.

There were a few suits down there today, one of which, seemed to be taking some kind of inventory and photographing the craft.
