Can't help thinking that if and when he does pass away, the Queen will throw in the towel.

Big changes coming.

Have a lot of affection for the guy, absolute star and apparently a really good egg!

Wish him all the best and hope he makes a speedy recovery, 91 and still working like he does... time for a rest me thinks!

I don't think she will, not until she's physically unable.

I do hope not and I'd be surprised if she abdicated.

Hmmm. Made it to 50 years. Big Jubilee, Olympics. Then PTG dies.

She'll go.

No chance.

She might scale back her duties as she herself gets towards her 90's, but she'll never abdicate due to old age - she takes her vows too seriously, including 'job for life'

Ditto, I can see Charles becoming Prince Regent and doing the heavy lifting for her though.

She would never, ever abdicate. The Royal Family have never forgiven Edward for doing it, and the Queen Mum blamed him for her husband's early death. However, I do think that the Queen will find it incredibly difficult without Philip by her side and I think her own health may well suffer as a result. frown

I hope he's OK - get well soon, Philip.

He's apparently in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary so only a matter if time before he has MRSA as well.

Cheers,

Has confirmed recently that she will go on. Her Maj sees it as her duty, not her job.

Would have thought they would have sent him to a private small hospital like Albyn?

Sorry Soovy, you're wrong! She will never abdicate, it caused her too much pain when her Uncle did it.

That said, I do think she will 'go' very quickly after he does frown He's very much her rock, whcih was very evident in the photos of them that were circulating for the Jubilee, of 50 years ago & now - with the same expression of love on their faces biggrin

Get well soon Phil!

Wot - she'll only get to 90 or 95, unlike her Mum who got past the ton ?

They have the best of care, best of food and some light duties
during the day.

Staying away from the gin is probably the biggest health issue she's got.

rolleyes You really have no idea what she does.

I'd like to see you stand in the cold & rain for the whole of the Jubilee's Regatta at your age, let alone hers!!
