At the end of 2010 did Barack Obama not extend the tax cuts at all income levels through 2012 so they now expire in 2013? If so, and it appears to be, is that funny too?
He had no choice but to sign the bill. Had he not done so taxes would have gone up dramatically for middle class families and poorer tax payers. He said at the time that he was unhappy about it but the alternative would have hurt all Americans. The President has the power of veto but cannot pick and choose which bits of a bill he passes, it's all or nothing.FOX News slam Ryan's speech as pack of lies.

If one pays attention, one will often see opposing viewpoints expressed on Fox. Yes, FOX News!

Blimey even Fox news are putting the boot in. Or should I take off the tin foil hat?
Just watching Romney. The guy is as fake as a nine bob note. The only thing more nauseating than this claptrap is the reaction of the brain dead morons in the audience. Why does he alway mention that one steel mill in Indiana and never the mill in Kansas where he and Bain asset stripped and left 750 workers without jobs or health coverage? Or even the other Indiana companies that went under with huge job losses while Bain trousered millions?

Even the reaction in the room was poor - mainly down to his pacing more than anything. The speech was badly written, and he fluffed most of the high points IMO, speaking when he should have waited for cheers, resting when he should have carried on. I'm intrigued to see how the debates shape up, but I get the impression that Romney might get taken to school. davepoth said:

Apparently he was enbarrassingly poor, I look forward to the repeat tomorrow.
Edited to say: Just saw Clunt. Very sad. Loved his acting and directing career. A shame to see him reduced to this stumbling, incoherent, frankly bonkers, embarrassing husk of what he was. Romney's are cringing and trying to distance themselves as, unfortunately, thay have to.

It was less "Make my day!" more "Where's me cocoa?". Huge mistake by the Republicans.Edited to say: Just saw Clunt. Very sad. Loved his acting and directing career. And I also agree with what you said about the actual election, Obama will make mincemeat out of this guy.

I really hope you're right - most of Europe are petrified of a uber right wing Republican president with as much foreign policy knowledge as my six year old - but, but - a lot of Americans love the prospect. And I also agree with what you said about the actual election, Obama will make mincemeat out of this guy.
I just heard a sound bite of Clint Boy's incoherent 'speech'. Not good. But then it was broadcast on the BBC...
Actually Clint did say one thing which I think we would all agree with. He pointed out that the people own the country and the politicians work for the people. Whether you're in the US or in the UK, or even the EU, I think that's something the politicians seem to have forgotten - or hope that we've forgotten.
For an 82 year old, without an autocue, who is not known for his long speeches, he seemed to do okay and, despite what the MSM are saying, he got huge applause in the hall. There were a couple of cringeworthy moments but isn't that always the case when any 'celebrity' attempts a political speech.
