Paxman making Vince Cable look an idiot over tuition fees.
Pax- So you signed the pledge knowing it was unaffordable
Cab - I was a bit skeptical
Pax - So you knew and still signed
Cab - I was skeptical
Pax - But you still signed
Cab - err, all parties did it

I used to like Vince Cable when he was in opposition. Since he came to power he just spouts rubbish along with all the others.

It's very easy to pick holes in what others are doing. Less so when you're on the spot having to deliver yourself...

Vince will deliver...his ass to Pledge's job (if he can). We can forget the rest as he's out of his depth standing in a puddle.

rofl

It's funny because it's true, likely to happen - certainly not out of the question as long as Paxo doesn't ask it - and will do neither Cable nor the libdims much good.

Exactly. Criticism is easy. Getting it right yourself is an order of magnitude higher.

Which is why the media find it so easy to criticise and undermine politicians. They are professional critics - and never have to make important decisions of their own.

Indeed. No accountability nor responsibility for anything.

We've had plenty of threads on banks, but IMO our media are by far our biggest issue in this country. And not just the tabloids.

Or just admitting they got it wrong. Not often you see 'Politicians' doing that huh. Then we take the piss cos they do it. Do we want some honesty or not? Double standards. We all know the libs are fked let's not not rub it in too much.

The last thing I would want is a centrally controlled media. Just because I make a comment that it's easy for media people to criticise does not mean that they SHOULDN'T criticise.

The important thing is that the reader, listener or viewer is aware of the way the media operates and how they can adopt a pose or stance to suit their own agenda.

Cable has always been a complete cretin. You only have to look at his long held desire to create a local income tax - he cant even grasp basic concepts like the difference between income and accumulated wealth.

He only gained popularity because some lefties at the BBC decided they were going to "big him up"

Too right, though he's not alone on that score.
