This has had quite an extraordinary amount of publicity. Is it just white, blonde woman syndrome or something else?

A few people on twitter seem to have taken it upon themselves to try to get a retweet out of every famous person on the site. That's where I saw it first. If it weren't for the BBC news site I'd have called hoax.

Good point. I didn't say it was wrong, why did you think that?

I was listening to this report on the radio. The local D Supt sounded gutted. A safe, rural village where kids can still run around unsupervised has just been torn apart. I really hope this girl can be found soon.
Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if we could put all the PC brigade on an island and sink it.
Then the pervs we lock up would be kept locked up, and not keep being released on the say-so of these do-gooders and let back in the community.

It happens unbelievably regularly.

This is just in the last week!

I assume the coverage is so intense as it could help with leads? It seems to be a fairly tight knit area so if they ensure everyone knows then more chance of someone coming forward?

If they have ruled out the family taking her due to custody battles etc then it can't be great news though can it

Ridiculous as previously said that a 5 year old child would be out without supervision at 7/7.30 in the evening. Don't care how 'safe' a sleepy little town in rural Wales is, it's clearly not safe enough. Negligent parenting.

Now obviously I hope she's safe and sound and gets returned home without a scratch but realistically does anyone expect anything but the worst? Not to sound heartless but I think we all know there's basically no chance of this ending positively.

Indeed - the chances of finding her diminish quite quickly as time passes I expect. So maximum coverage immediately is the best thing, not waiting a week or even a couple of days.

No. Expensive waste of money. Just makes a nation more paranoid (but that's how they sell 'em!).
First thing an abductor would do is to remove it. Not much good then.

According to the site, if removed it sends a signal. Not much use unless you are yards away but it's a start. I agree about the paranoia but it's just using tech for a good reason.
