Six years for not predicting an earthquake...
Discussion
Total fking lunacy, on a par with witchcraft trials.
I remember when we had the 'Hurricane that never was' The arseparts on Breakfast TV were trying to make mileage out of the fact that the BBC's Met office qualified weather forecasters got it wrong, and dragged in Ulrika "bury me in a y-shaped coffin" Johnsson for her ''expert'' opinion, as which point the dozy tart said that people should ''take responsibility for their own weather forecasts''. Which was bloody rich considering that she was hired purely for her ability to point her tits at the camera and read words from an autocue, and didn't know one end of an isobar from the other.
Until today, her retarded contribution was the stupidest thing I had ever heard. So well done, Italy. You are officially stupider that Ulrikakakak

Anybody in officialdumb appointing to a post where the occupant needs to be able to predict earthquakes should sack themselves first.
There are those in IPCC circles who think they can predict something that doesn't exist, the politicians who put them there should face the music as well.

Tough one, on the one hand how can you be guilty of not predicting an act of God but on the other if it's your job to predict something and you fail should you be in trouble.
Sacked yes, jail? Probably not.
It simply is not currently possible to predict earthquakes. http://moho.ess.ucla.edu/~kagan/Geller_et_al_1997....Sacked yes, jail? Probably not.
Madness, shear madness.
But not far removed from charging fire officers with manslaughter for doing their job.
More maddening is the fact that the dumb fks bringing these prosecutions have rarely made any worthwhile contribution to society themselves.
One day, when no one is prepared to take any responsibility at all, we'll all pay the price of this culture.

Also in the new Italy's top court has ruled that a businessman developed a benign brain tumor because he held a cellphone to his ear for hours daily for his job and deserves worker's compensation

Look on the bright side... think of all the 'climate scientists' we can lynch soon!
Well put. However, what differentiates many 'climate scientists' is that they will not accept that their models may be flawed and evidence becomes an inconvenient fact, whilst these particular scientists seem to have gone to some effort to stress that they were presenting a best guess rather than a hard fact. Very sad day for Italian science.
Problem now is that whenever a scientist is asked for his expert opinion on something they will always defer to a worst case scenario to cover their backsides.
So towns will be evacuated, massive contingencies put in place, army on standby, all at massive cost just in case there is a minute percent chance of a 'big one' happening.
Mind you, they will then be strung up for over-reacting!
Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
