Good to see a story as important as this is front page news on the BBC website today.

Ah...... Oh...

Well maybe you might find it in their News section?

Not so much.

At least not at the moment. Are we even surprised anymore?

I doubt the custody sarge had to ask 'Is that with a 'v' or 'ph'?'

Cameron may mention jail for public officials that fail to deal with the sexual abuse of minors.

I wonder if that will impact on Sara Thornton getting her job as head of the ACPO replacement? I suppose she may have learnt her lessons.

Todays report... plenty to choose from, but the Guardians is especially interesting, and avoids the "Daily Mail- not a credible source" argument.

Yvette Cooper- a woman with such poor judgement that she married Ed Balls- criticises the actions!

Well, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. In some regards, she is correct and although criticising the extent of the government's actions, she is not criticising the intent. I think, on this issue, it is only right that Labour attempt to make amends for the woeful showing of their council in Rotherham.

Meanwhile in the Banbury case the defence QC speaks out for his clients with the line "These girls only came forward because they thought it was better to be thought a victim rather than a slag."

What a tt.

Shows no remorse what so ever, considering some victims were as young as 11, they need to throw the book at them.

Life in jail been fed nothing but cheap Danish pork.

I understand what concurrent sentences are but for the life of me I do not understand why they are applied, this guy has got 18 years for a string of other offences that if they ran consecutively would give him 56 years. Applying a 50% tarif for parole would mean 28 years, whereas its 9 years on his current 18. It is a bit simplistic I know, but Effectively the most serious offence masks all others and hence in my eyes he has got away with them. Thoughts?

I realise he is paid and duty bound to defend his client within the bounds of the law but I ask whether a QC should seriously question whether a minor of 11 years of age is capable of being a slag, assuming that was the term used or directly alluded too. I'd be asking for his 'licence' to be revoked, appalling if true.

Michael Magarian QC Dyers Chambers suggested in his closing comments to the jury that the young girls may have been ‘brainwashed by social workers’, and that the case was ‘police-manufactured’.

He said: ‘It’s better to be a victim than a slag. Once you are a victim who has been groomed you no longer have to take any responsibility for anything that you did

Clare Dowse, 3 Temple Gardens said that the victims ‘might be enjoying all the attention from police and social services’.

Not a gang but a poor 18 year old girl raped at a bus stop in Leeds yesterday by an 'Asian' man in his 20s

Meanwhile one of the councillors implicated in the Rotherham cover up has just landed a nice role, £85k pa, helping Birmingham City council assist in their investigations in to the grooming gangs.

After Rotherham I don't know why anyone would employ such a fool.

He has the Common Purpose tilted head photo and the Kerching smile. I've got every confidence in him.

I laughed at the most recent comment. It reminded me of the Bill Hicks 'Suck a tailpipe' line. smile

Doubt it, probably secure even more work.

The country has got its ares wide open, and tolerance, morals, fair play are being abused. Weak leadership, at the top.
