I saw this. Terrible case, and scarily local to me.

I expect this type of thing has been going on for quite a long time now, The Rochdale case has bought it to the media attention and also demonstrated that the Police will come after you if you are doing this.
So now hopefully the idiots doing this will realise that if they continue they will get locked up for life and it will stop, alternatively they will continue to do it and just not be as open about it.
Am i living in cloud cuckoo land if i think / hope it all stops

Sadly I think you may well be. The people who perparate these horrific acts have always known there is a risk of being caught, and with that a risk of severe punishment. Despite the current high profile of these cases, I can't see it having any additional effect.

I hope you are right and I am wrong!

Not that I condone it, but TBH girls of a certain type and age have always been vulnerable.

When I was at school, you'd see girls no older than 16 at most, being met by boyfriends with cars or motorbikes - borderline legal at best. Then there was the 14/15 yo girl who shagged our coach driver on the skiing trip I went on.

What has changed is probably that, for erasons explained below, more of these girls are being caught up, because there is a new, more voracious section of society pursuing them.
This kind of organised child abuse going on for quite a few decades at least. These days there are a fair proportion of offenders of Asian descent, but white men (and women) are also at it.

e.g. see Nick Davies book about 1980s sink estates
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Heart-Shocking-Hidden...

And yes, those kind of "how about we ...?" conversations actually do happen frown . However sometimes people just do violent things in concert without any kind of formal discussion before or during - that's sometimes how it starts in the first place.

Wow, in another article I'm sure it said the police where called by neighbour who heard screams

"A 13-year-old girl was found drunk at 3am in a derelict house with a ‘large group of adult males’ who had plied her with vodka. She was arrested for a public order offence while the men walked away. "

So for the last three days all the usual suspects and feminists have been banging on about how tragic it is that women cannot be Bishops.

Why are they not screaming from the rooftops about this?ears
Where are the all men are rapists brigade?ears

I went past a blue plaque today comemorating emily pankhurst. I wonder if she would feel much has changed reading that article.

All cases of abuse of women and young girls is grotesque and hard to understand, what I don't get is the brigade of folks on here who some how think its worse If its done by Asian men? Surely ALL child abuse is awful? why or how can it be WORSE cause an Asian gang did it over say a white English gang? Please someone explain why it matters what colour or creed does the abusing? seems on this thread people where more intersted in that than nothing else .

But why does it bother people more if they were Asian? of course there's been and is white British groups of men abusing girls and boys, some Catholic priests for one as an easy answer. But I feel it's like people have more outrage that its Asian mean messing with white girls ... that's one reason I can fathom.. help me out here. Rxplain why it's I'd worse depending on the peados race and colour ?

I'll take your bait on this one, even though you seem to have pre-loaded it that everyone who dares comment on it seems to only do so because they must be racist, you know, they don't care about white white men raping kids, but do get worked-up about Asian men touching white kids.
But putting your assumptions aside, maybe people are wondering and question why it happens quite a bit. That could just be questioning the news reporting and wondering why the focus is more on Asian grooming gangs, or wondering if the figures suggest there is more of a problem with one group of men and why that may be.
It could be the reverse, and over reporting by the press and giving the idea that Asian men are more likely to be involved when the reality is they are less likely to be involded from a statistical point of view.

I'll risk going even further. If you don't think there is a cultural (well, religious) element to the ease with which groups of men feel it OK to abuse women - and manage to mass organise and get away with abuse - you should catch a replay of the Channel 4 report on Egypt, shown yesterday.

You simply would not find so many men/youths together behaving so awfully and brazenly as they did in a city with a different religious and cultural background. I defy anyone to think of anywhere this would have been seen outside of a war zone in any European country for example.

If you didn't/don't see it, masses (dozens at times) of men abusing, taunting, touching, chasing and even raping women black and blue in the street with no fear of the consequence. Justified with the line that those who went out uncovered or in western dress were wes, asking for it. Until the journalist asked why they also abused women in veils, to which one scumbag actually had the stupidity to say, "just because she is wearing the veil does not mean she is pure..." (or very near, to that clear meaning) and that they couldn't tell anymore. So that's OK then - abuse all women on the grounds they are likely to be worthless wes. Only in Cairo... and...

You could use that example with any American frat party though? Or any number of blokes with no respect of women. To be more offended by Asian or Muslim men doing it is to me odd...
I find it perplexing and frankly annoying very few if anyone actually cares or cared about this mass of forgotton girls in the 'care' system being left to fend for themselves until it was discover Asian men were abusing them.
These are the girls who would grow to have kids and many in society would then claim they are scroungers living off ' the tax payer' in houses for their 4 kids as they piss away benefits... we never cared about them before.. why now suddenly?
Any abuse of women or children is wrong. End of... it can't be worse cause someone in Egypt does it or an Asian man does it.....

You haven't seen the programme then? Or the sheer scale of it, and the openness, and the regularity and the fact that mobs - dozens - of men can regularly do pretty much anything they like to any girl or woman who comes into contact with them even in a busy city street.

Hardly a college frat party. Poor comparison tbh.

And why do you, and those like you, think that anyone aware of, resentful of and pointing attention to stuff like this would/does accept (more) or turn a blind eye to other individuals or groups doing the same? Untrue, specious and pointless.

Maybe research a bit more about frat parties. Abuse of women and girls is not specific to one race or religion or colour of people. My point is its all bad. So why in this thread is all the snide remarks of 'what a surprise' cause it was Asian men ?
