Not least because the horrific nature of the recent attack has raised people's awareness.
Agreed it turns on that - if it had not been barbaric/horrific, may not even have made the news outside of India - or the 2nd event.

the outcry still carrying on.

There have been violent protests in the Indian capital, Delhi, after reports that a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at school.

Police used batons to break up angry crowds outside a hospital where the girl had been taken for treatment.

Teachers and security guards at the government school are being questioned over the alleged assault, police said.

The gang rape and murder of a student on a Delhi bus in December sparked protests across India.

Hundreds of people gathered to protest outside the Sanjay Gandhi hospital in the Mangolpuri area of northern Delhi as news of the alleged sex attack in a local school spread.
its surprising that the rape rate has always been so high and so little has been done till the initial outcry of the bus rape

As terrible as the bus rape was, maybe something good will come of it.

I suppose an outcry here is justified, to put an end to the abuse. Or do we need lots more of these incidents before people wake up. Or just one incident of whites on a 13 year old Muslim girl.

I do think that it will take an outcry before this issue is dealt at the core of the Asian community and sadly

Absolutely atrocious. I am not pro capital punishment, but I'd certainly leave a door open at the police station and let the husband put these fking animals in critical conditions and chop off a limb or two while at it. I cannot imagine a worse thing to have to go through for her, or to be tied up and be forced to witness for him. I have nothing but the deepest sympathy for the couple involved.

I am glad this news isn't being swept under the carpet like the U.S CNN reporter that got raped in Egypt was. Perhaps not swept under the carpet, but it certainly left the headlines rather quickly.

Perhaps the answer is to send more aid for education.

Or maybe, as said, just machine gun the savages.

Don't think she was raped, she was sexually assaulted.

Why send aid? India has more money than us! We should get aid from them.

They are 100 years behind the rest of civilisation and there is very little you can do to speed that up.

I genuinely have no idea of the point you're trying to make.

OK. Someone said that CNN reporter was raped in Egypt, I said she was sexually assaulted, not raped. I'm not saying that makes it OK at all, just a bit of correction from me.

I don't think there is any nation, religion or culture on earth that endorses the gang rape of women. It;s not education that is needed.

They are savages, acting on instincts, I would have no problem with them all being dispatched to their maker
