This is how I'd prefer to go I think. Whether accidentally or after finding out some bad news. A long last walk...

It seems to be very selfish way to do it. Its going to put a lot of people at risk looking for him.

If I was going to commit suicide Id want to do it in a way that would affect the least amount of people and certainly not make other people put their lives at risk looking for me

Indeed.

Rescuers can die trying to save someone who has decided to end it all.

I don't think it was suicide though in this specific case. And, having been involved in mountain rescue in the past, taking unnecessary risks does not happen these days. Plus it's just one of the many situations that that service exists.

Agree it looks like an accident but you have to question the sense of someone wandering off alone in the mountains if thats what he did.
