Actually that's exactly what the French Constitutional Committee said too. So Hollande is NOT allowed to have his 75% tax incorporated into law laugh

The French constitution does not permit taxation to the point where it become confiscation.

Socialists are now in damage limitation mode trying to think of a new way to screw the rich. Problem is that the 75% tax was a fundamental part of Hollande's campaign.
I'd imagined the court decision was common knowledge as was the socialist tts statement afterwards that they'd find some other way to steal from people.

This is not how it's been reported in the UK. We've been told (as above) that it's down to a technicality regarding household incomes and single incomes.

GD lives just across the French border in Belgium. By just across I mean he bought the actual customs house on the Belgium side. A wonderful FU to the French govt smile

Nor is his film career over, indeed the whole Russian thing is probably because he played Rasputin in 2011, presumably released last yr and it has appealed to Vlad who is cashing in on the PR. GP has 4 films currently in post-production, so a fairly active chap still.

This whole thing with GD is absolutely bizarre.

As has been pointed out, he already moved to Belgium, so why is he so desperate to move to Russia? He can't seriously want to live there can he?

What's wrong with moving to Geveva like everyone else?

Who knows what Putin offered him, but you can be sure it's more than just a passport.

Does he now need to apply for a visa to get back to France?
If he's given up his French passport/citizenship then he'll need a visa to come to Europe (Schengen)
buy a 300k property in cyprus and get permanent residency within schengen, like the chinese and russians... job done

I'm suprised he didn't move to the states to be with his fiance, Whoopi Goldberg.

After the wedding she'll be known as Mrs Whoopi Dupido.

Perhaps the French are going to follow the Americans by charging all citizens tax on worldwide income, whether living at home or not.

Chuckles has a point. Belgium is like Switzerland without the Alps, chocs and decent watches to make the place vaguely interesting.

The Walker Brothers both hopped it to Russia after Brent Walker went South.

At that time Russia was much less of a desirable option!

....if you have a nice nest egg it doesn't really matter where you call home. All one needs is a travel document.

Belgium may be a bit bland and uninspiring but most of Russia is either geographically or climatically dangerous, severely corrupt, led by criminals or drunks, or completely lawless, with a language and culture beyond most westerners.

Unless you're some kind of reindeer loving, adrenaline junkie scarface, I'd stick in belgium.

Russia ladies are nicer though.

"Don't know any Belgium jokes, and if I did I think I'd have the good sense not to... hang on. Is Belgium with all those child abuse murders lately? I do know a Belgium joke. What's Belgium famous for? Chocolates and child abuse, and they only invented the chocolates to get to the kids. "

The film "In Bruges" is the best thing to come out of Belgium, other than.........than............. "In Bruges" is the best thing to come out of Belgium.
